@carpainter: Wow. Good job, my friend. Your Plex is clearly thicker and longer than my XBMC. I'm sure your Plex also does a more satisfying job with its motion in the ocean than my XBMC. Kudos to you!

@Jason Fitzpatrick: Also, not to pile on or anything, but plex is an Apple-only solution. Now that's fine for people willing to pony up for Apple products, but that still leaves a majority of htpc users out in the cold.

@chauncy that billups: I assume this was something of a joke, but the simplest answer would be that it would be too difficult to manage a "marriage" of more than two people. It'd seriously screw up tax forms, make inheritance issues even more tricky, make hospital decisions even more difficult, etc., etc.

@Dorilys: anti-miscegenation. Miscegenation is when two different races have babies. Anti-miscegenation laws make that illegal and are messed up.

You know, once films are finished and eventually determined to be american classics worthy of preservation, they are sent to the salt mines in Hutchinson, KS, which is a cool, dry place deep underground. Seems to me there's no reason you couldn't both store movies there and MAKE movies there.

GIMP. Then code. Though TinyMCE does a reasonable job for quick stuff, if you happen to be a MODX user.

@wicketr: A lot of it depends on how much you want to keep the little squigglies in the film, like film grain and stuff like that. A 1080p Pixar movie has ZERO film grain and looks pretty much perfect at a mere 4 or 5 gigs. A movie with tons of film grain, like Minority Report, probably won't look exactly the same…

I've been using this for a couple weeks. It's a real lifesaver for those on Weight Watchers.
