It is possible for a dick to be too big. I have not experienced this and would like to see some of these big dicks people are encountering, but I’m willing to take their word for it.

The point is that dudes want to take the opportunity to tell us how big their wieners are.

I personally think it’s near to impossible to be “progressive on all important social issues” while also being a fiscal republican. I consider things like funding for addiction treatment, access to health care for people in deep poverty, free school lunch programs for children in poverty, the ultra-rich paying

His voice, looks, humor, intelligence, empathy. Damn. I don’t generally covet married or otherwise committed folk, but he’s on the short list.

I...I understand and agree with Bella Hadid?

Person who suffers from BPD here. Please do not confuse our illness with psychopathy or sociopathy. Sufferers of BPD are far more likely to harm themselves than anyone else, and it does not help that our illness is often erroneously named as the culprit whenever stories like this surface.

I made a burner account just to comment on this post. I have bpd. I was diagnosed at 17, which is rare but it can happen. I understand that the OP has apologized and that’s all well and good. No one will probably see this because I’m in the greys but I just wanted to thank every single person who commented here in

Sure. To be honest, I didn’t actually know the answer to your question (my engagement with the diagnostic criteria for BPD was with the DSM-IV-TR) so I went and did a bit of reading. Basically, the DSM 5 collapsed the axes into one axis for all diagnoses (including physical diagnoses). It’s hard to tell exactly why

Actually I would give her better than even odds to win on the First Amendment point, it’s not clear to me what exception this speech would fall under. It’s not a threat, or solicitation, or fraud, or obscenity. I guess it’s almost like incitement, but not really. Did you have specific precedents in mind? Or did you

I know! That’s the *scariest* part!

They have my sympathy. I have known kind-hearted people with that diagnosis. I’m sure you’re right that it is abused. But hurt people can do a lot of damage. I have experienced that side, too.

BPD gets conflated with narcissism and with sociopathy. It is neither. Importantly, it is also a label frequently given to “difficult” or “non compliant” psych patients. I spent a month on a personality disorder unit with 30 patients. 26 were women. 18 were gay. It is a punishment diagnosis. It is a dustbin diagnosis.

BPD is essentially the inability to regulate your emotions, so major highs and lows, typically numerous suicide attempts, drug and alcohol issues, poor impulse control and self harm. They can also be pretty manipulative in my experience.

Hey, person with BPD here. Armchair diagnosing someone who urged her friend to kill himself with a mental illness is garbage. Don’t do that. Not even sure where you’re getting that diagnosis from? There is a huge stigma against BPD already, and it’s kind of hard for us to get treated like people without this kind of

Thanks for contributing to the awful stigma against people with BPD. If you encounter someone who has BPD, run? Not cool.

Clinical therapist here and this may come as a shock but it's kind of unlikely that any of you are going to accurately diagnose either of these people with secondhand info from the news, licensed or not. A little disturbed that an MSW above chose to speculate.

My sister also has it and though sometimes she acts as if she doesn’t, she feels for everyone. She can get in her own way with it, or even seem to ignore it, but she’s exceptionally empathetic and compassionate.

Thank you for sharing this. My sister has BPD and sometimes I forget, in my frustration, to show empathy towards her.

As someone who works in the mental health field, I hear you. It's appalling. I'm sorry you have to deal with shit like the original post in this thread.

This is a horrible thing to say and you should be ashamed of yourself. You’re contributing to the stigma around mental health disorders in general and BPD specifically, and you’re dehumanizing the human beings who suffer from the latter. In fact, BPD is manageable, and especially in recent years, treatment and
