Civil Asset Forfeiture isn’t a good thing when it’s used against people who have not committed a crime. When it’s used against criminals it’s a wonderful thing.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
You know they are in their forums complaining about how they are the victims here. So much caps lock.

This is such a smooth brained take that I seriously have to question how you seriously believe that progressive taxation somehow leads to everyone only being able to afford a cheap car. Even the countries with high taxation levels have millionaires and billionaires. Sweden has 45 billionaires and Koenigsegg is…
The raging boner that people get by hating the rich is frankly embarrassing and so obviously comes from a place of jealousy.
I mentioned the owner could be a douchbag which he seems to really be (the article does not mention it). BTW, I am definitely a leftist (I would probably not be on Jalopnik otherwise) but I don’t like people categorizing, just because they see money. And yes there are still self-made people who make it to the top of…
Funny how it is with expensive ticket items right? the guy buying a $3-4M yacht (130 foot yacht) is an evil bastard but the guy buying a $2-3M Hypercar is likely not. And so I am guessing Rafael Nadal ($8.5M Yacht) or David Beckam did not achieve success honestly or neither Gordon Ramsay with his hypercars collection…
I miss it too, but it’s been this way for at least 5 years so I think we can give up any hope of it coming back. I come here far less often, and rarely actually end up clicking on anything anymore.
Welcome to Jalopnik. They haven’t yet realized that without all of these rich people they hate, the fun cars they cover wouldn’t exist. They’d be reviewing Corollas and Rogues all day. Maybe the occasional Acura depending on just how far their “fairness” policies would go.
“everyone lived, and the person who owns it is probably rich enough to also buy a small country. They’ll be just fine, if you ask me.”
Leaving out the obvious possibility of insurance fraud, the way it’s listing makes me think it might have hit something below the starboard waterline, possibly a submerged container. Such things have happened.
What has happened to this site? It used to a be a car blog about having fun. It was lighthearted and didn’t push political agendas. Now it seems to be ok to laugh at others’ misfortune as long as they are rich or don’t hold the same political beliefs. I’d love to see it get back to the the old Jalopnik.
“And Rivian isn’t giving them many options. They can either cancel their order entirely and get their deposit back, or they can open their wallets to drop more dough for the more expensive trim.”
I find it more palatable that a company is saying, this is what we need to do to survive versus a dealer saying, our finance manager wants a new boat for the summer therefore here is a 50k markup on a EQS.
Sure it sucks, but pre-orders are BS anyway.
My daily driver may be a BMW, but I’m a steadfast user of turn signals.
I think that most modern cars have a “lane change” three-blink position on the turn signal. Just bump it without hitting the detent and you get three blinks of the signal. The one on BMWs must be a subscription feature, because the drivers still ain’t using it.
The automaker anticipates that customers would be willing to spend as much as $135 a month on various subscriptions
