Nobody said anything about the cyclist getting a pass.  The other guy being at fault doesn’t give you the right to hit-and-run.

When you hit someone with your car, you fucking stop and at the very least see if they’re ok. Regardless of who’s at fault.

As a devoted cyclist, who does well north of 10k miles/year, I have a great disdain for people on bikes who run red lights….. but man… hit and run is inexcusable.

But the collision was 100% his fault. Whether she stopped or not did not change his extent of injury, considering passerbys were able to render assistance.

Quite a bit to unpack here. Bicyclist claimed he had green, which was later proven false. Vehicle operator HAD to have known she nailed this guy, unless she was on her phone (wouldn’t shock me).

Over a half mile, fairly straight, no cross-traffic - you think anyone is actually going to do 35mph there? Any competent traffic engineer would know that without putting in something to enforce speed control (like speed humps) there is no way that traffic will follow that speed limit.

Who approved the design? They should be fired. Unseparated traffic, unprotected bike lanes and the ability to climb the supports are all things that maybe should have been caught pretty early on.

My city just installed these big metal cylinders that come out of the pavement to block off roads in its historic district for outdoor events. Put those at each end of the bridge. Let it get nice and full. Raise them up. No way out. Everybody doing dumb people shit on that bridge gets impounded, fined and or arrested.…
