I thought this was great - easily the best of the season thus far. Whereas the last few episodes felt a little forced, this one didn't at all.

OT, but as I've already commented on Parks upthread, and seeing as the review hasn't been posted, what did people think of 30 Rock tonight? I thought it was easily the best of the season thus far, even if its Dark Knight spoof wasn't exactly current.

I prefer the French Le Bureau.

They played Ann a little crazy in Season 3, and to good effect - with Leslie and at times Donna playing straight woman to her. And overall it was really good.

What was bizarre that her whole sequence was filmed right after S2 (remember that they filmed the first 6 episodes of S3 right afterwards to accommodate Amy's pregnancy). So it was never totally clear why they cut Lucy's thing with Tom short so quickly and with so little screen time.

I'm just repeating myself (so I'll stop after this) but remember that we first met Dave arresting Tom basically for pissing him off.

Nah. I liked this one, but I felt the same way you do now about Ron and Tammys. Everyone was raving about how funny it was, but I thought it was a huge letdown.

Except they tried that last season and it was hilarious.

The commentators at Sepinwall's blog didn't seem to like it much either, mostly because of the Ann/Tom stuff and Dave suddenly becoming dumber and dickish. I liked it more than you did - or most of those commentators did - but I sort of agree.

I suspect it'll be a fall/spring alteration - 13-15 episodes for 30 Rock in the fall, and 18-20 for Community in the spring (which they could run w/out repeats, double-up some nights, or run into the summer.)

Journeyman - like a lot of shows - also got badly hurt by the Writers' Strike.

I don't think Leslie's changed that much from S2 to now, but the show as a whole was a lot more low-key at the time, and CK fit well with that vibe.

That's the whole point - Calzones are so unobjectionable it's absurd that they would be either the object of hate and scorn OR passionate fandom.

Being on the left is eternally frustrating. Doesn't matter the country, or the place. Probably because being liberal means being open to critiques, suspicion of authority, etc., get a bunch of liberals together and they'll all start disagreeing. And there will always be people who out-left you.

Except only Tom and Ann were in love with Justin. Everyone else hated him pretty quickly.

Though I liked this episode, your take on the series as a whole is spot on. Cute show, but it can get kinda tiresome at times.

Hmm… So I looked James Wolk up on IMDb, and he's only 26? I would have guessed early 30s.

Yes. Aspiring British politicos sometimes work on American campaigns or public offices for a year or two, but they aren't going to be serving as a press secretary or aiming for Deputy Mayor.

I guess he figured he'd have to wait without a job another two years…? But again, why should he be taking a year off from work to wait for an adopted baby?

Even better was that he was like "Why don't I get consulted?! Dad gets to decide this and I don't?!"
