Honestly, I’m beginning to think that the only thing that would make republican members of the Senate take this seriously is if the mob had gotten to and killed someone like Romney or Pence.

Congress could never thank Officer Eugene Goodman enough. The man literally put his black body between Congress and a mob shouting the n-word, waving the confederate flag, and putting up nooses at the capitol.

Secret Empire (2016). Nick Spencer was incapable of telling this story with any real depth so it just came off as a sort of mealy mouthed meta textual narrative on fascism that Spencer very clearly doesn’t understand.

She should be prosecuted and put in jail for the needless deaths caused by her reckless disregard of medical advice and scientific fact in subservience to a criminal former-President’s re-election campaign.

The “wonderful right to life ceremony” is, of course, classic GOP hypocrisy.

I can’t watch any of it. I do want the Democrats to make a convincing case, (which, frankly, shouldn’t be hard,) but I just cannot stand listening to the Republicans make cynical and hypocritical arguments that the whole trial is pointless.

Unfriend. Get off Facebook or use it only for marketplace and messenger. Do not scroll unless you want to have a stroke.

This is exactly why the bullshit defense that it’s unconstitutional to convict a President after he’s left office. They don’t care how many Constitutional scholars we line up to tell them that’s bullshit. They aren’t trying to appease Constitutional scholars. They know this whole thing is about being put on the record

It’s not that they found his actions indefensible. They could defend anything if they wanted to. It’s that they don’t WANT to. They’d rather not have to pick a side here because they know there’s a decent sized chunk of GOP voters who really would like to see Trump banned from office over this. Not as large as the

Here’s another thought. Per The Hill (1/8/21):

When the law, morals and history are against you, you attack the process. Republicans have no interest in making Trump accountable. Democrats need are actually doing them a favor by trying to take Trump out of any future GOP primaries. Democrats need not do Republicans this favor. But Democrat’s need to hammer home

OT: Scope and expectation management are normally the first order of bid’ness on big stuff, IMHO.

I do not understand so many peoples problem with Black History Month. All right I do understand - its racism.

If you want to read about Ebersol’s attempts to poach the SCTV cast for SNL, Dave Thomas (not the Wendy’s guy) discusses it in his book. Ebersole actually succeeded: he got Martin Short, of course, but Catherine O’Hara also agreed to join SNL, but backed out at the last minute because she didn’t want to move to NYC

I came here to say Carrie Fisher, too. Her personality—her wit, her humor, her perspective—made her such a delight to see in any public appearance she made. She was a celebrity who was fun to see as a celebrity out in the world, not just scripted in the movies. And as a huge Star Wars fan, I’d idolized her as Princess

Watched Toys over the holidays and cried within 30 seconds of him showing up on screen.

You know what you really won’t be able to watch? What Dreams May Come. I had a hard time with that movie even while he was alive.

Yup. I tried to watch Dead Poets Society over the holidays and it hurt enough that I turned it off.

Me too.  I can’t bring myself to watch any of his movies, even though I know I should.
