My HS was predominately black (98%) and I was enrolled in the magnet program. It was friendly competition to see who could carry the most AP classes, highest SAT/ACT scores and get scholarship money for college. Magnet program was like our own little bubble where we pushed and encouraged each other to excel.
Listen, I STAN for my HBCU (Xavier University of Louisiana). Those 4 yrs spent there (pre & post Katrina) were some of the most formative years of my life.
