I’m fine with that perspective. But the tone of the article is that these guys are jerks for doing it NOW, which implies that other times would be better, and I disagree with that. IMHO if it’s ever ok, now is better, not worse than any other time because fewer people are at risk.

I believe it’s more socially responsible to do it now than when more people are on the road. The risk of accident is far lower. Which, perversely, is why people also feel the record shouldn’t count, and I understand that thinking as well.

This is the best possible time to do this. There is a far lower chance of killing someone who has nothing to do with this because most people are off the roads and not traveling cross country.

I owned one of these. The biggest problem is the headliner, which has been replaced. The 4.0 is absolutely bulletproof, the off road prowess of this vehicle is amazing, and the inside...sucks. But for twelve grand you cannot get another vehicle in this good a shape that will be as trouble free and an absolute monster

The damage is that the unsophisticated buyer is now over extended. The reason they don’t qualify for that loan is it’s likely to put them in a bad place financially. But all they know is “the bank said I could afford it” and the dealer has taken advantage of them. I think the idea of filing a lawsuit is frivolous, but

You are overlooking the significant number of uneducated/unsophisticated buyers. Consider: A dealer, with that very nice trustworthy salesperson and the big fancy showroom, this dealer tells you “ok, I can sell you this car. Here’s how this works. You stop making the payments, and the bank will come get your old car.

I took a diesel pickup with a trailer to pickup at 3300 pound car. I got 12.2 miles per gallon on the way there, and 12.2 miles per gallon on the way back. Seems to me like that’s vastly better than what happened here...

They are proud of the work they are doing, proud enough to make a film showing how carefully these are put together...

My first thought on seeing this headline was “that is MESSED UP”

The first Mass Effect is still the only game I’ve ever completed, watched all the way through the closing credits, stared at the title screen and pressed start for. It was such an engaging amazing experience that I couldn’t wait to play through it again. I’ve finished it numerous times, have every achievement etc. To

I’ve tried to watch it. I’ve tried to care. It’s profoundly uninteresting to me. Maybe it’s too slow, maybe it’s because it sounds like vacuum cleaner racing, I don’t know. But I’ve turned on around a dozen Fe races and never made it to the end of a single one...

He can’t qualify for crap, but his race craft isn’t bad. People love to trash him because he is rich, but he’s not nearly as bad as people claim he is.

My dad says a 99 Camry XLE is the best car he ever owned. I borrowed it one week (before he sold it for $1 to a friend in need) after driving a rental 2015 Nissan Altima, and the Camry with 190k miles was a vastly better experience, a commentary on how great this car is and also just how bad Nissan has gotten in the

Honestly this is a pretty iconic car for anyone that lived through the 80’s. There are only three in the world, and it’s 1% of the price of the real thing. NP

And we wonder why we have a world full of snowflakes...

The best Star Wars game is republic commandos...

Yes, but I remember reading articles about people being upset with Lexus over it. I think it was felt arrogant to assume this was necessary. Ferrari has clear precedent where their cars are worth more the moment they are sold. The LFA dropped in value for a while...

IIRC they were some crazy form of lease where you didn’t actually own it and couldn’t resell the car for some time. I seem to remember people being upset by this so it’s possible some people refused to take delivery unless they owned the car.

This. The only way this car makes any sense if it gets like 80mpg. But it’s mileage was crap.

Used to enjoy it, now it’s a mess.
