If this was closer to home it would already be sold. To me.
I watched nascar in the 90’s, used to go to races and had season tickets at Fontana from its very first season. NASCAR has gotten so dumb I haven’t even watched a race on TV in years. This qualifying is the natural outgrowth of constant rule changes. Silliness followed by silliness.
Best. Idea. Ever.
I really like games. But I do not understand people who prefer games to actual human relationships. I’ve never enjoyed an evening reminiscing with Master Chief about all the great times we had... put the game down and talk to the humans around you!
A buddy had a justy back in the early nineties. It was such a complete POS that when he finally traded it in on a new escort wagon (with a stick) I asked him how much they gave him for the justy and his response was “they took it” and that was frankly more than it was worth.
Best possible outcome, at least for the bystanders.
That’s my point in its entirety. Tobacco liveries encourage smokers to choose a specific brand, not non smokers to start smoking. Enough said, I just want as much money poured into racing as possible :-)
Since I don’t smoke or work for a tobacco company I’m not going to say anymore. I just want as much money in racing as possible and don’t believe it encourages people to smoke. Peace.
Fantastic read. Thanks Parker for sharing this, and congratulations on 15th! I’m sure your team is most pleased.
Cadillac buyers will assume it’s how many cubic inches the motor is anyway...
There has been a tremendous effort to reduce smoking, so to claim that this is why is a bit of a stretch. And yes, things like Joe Camel have been proven to increase youth smoking. As a child magazine ads absolutely did their very best to make smoking look cool and high class. But ads tell a story far greater than…
This. Seriously. I don’t smoke cigarettes. I’ve always looked at cigarette advertising the same way I look at tampon ads: they don’t apply to me. I am not a cigarette smoker. Never once in my life did I think, “man, that racing livery looks sweet, I should try smoking”
CART was all kinds of awesome even after the split. While ratings were hurt the series was still very strong. The real decline started in 1999 with the death of Greg Moore, that really seemed to cast a pall over the series. But the point of no return came with the pop off valve controversy that lead to Honda leaving,…
They weren’t watching or old enough to care or maybe even alive yet. This article started by saying the split ended in 1996...
The Reynard, Lola and Swift all won races. The Mercedes/Ilmore, Honda, Toyota, and Cosworth engine all won races. CART was amazing. I want to love it again, but haven’t been able to get into it yet. I keep trying though.
This article was WAY too kind towards the idiot grandson. Tony George wasn’t happy being just a board member, wanted everyone to do what he said, and when they didn’t he took his speedway and went home. He destroyed American open wheel racing and pissed away the family fortune all so he could be in charge.
I have one of these, same year, but Estoril Blue. Amazing car. But you absolutely must stay on top of maintenance or bad things happen. Ignore the rear shocks and eventually they blow out the mounts and some welding is in order, for example.
