It’s far more than a few generations (e.g., the population of the island of Tristan da Cunha is descended from only 15 people and goes back 200 years). Searching around, an anthropologist looking at multi-generational space travel estimated that a population could survive stably for 8 to 10 generations with only 160

It was a 7-year exercise in carefully calibrated and ratcheted tension. Most TV shows can’t maintain any tension through a single scene, let alone across the span of years.

The Shield was great because you just KNEW shit was going to finally come down on Vic but the writers were so creative in how he got to delay the inevitable that it didn’t feel forced. Instead it just felt like a 7 year long build-up.

Then there’s The Shield, where the season quality rankings go 7>6>5>4>3>2>1, and season 1 was pretty great.

Did you read the article? He IS known for editing much maligned movies down into more palatable tales.

You have exactly 3 minutes to come up with four shows that no human being could ever reasonably want to watch. Bonus points if you can shoehorn an actress that is universally loved into the show and still no one would want to watch it. Ready, set, go...

Maybe, but since I’m not... pass the Nestle crunch bites!

Any LOTR show is going to suffer through comparisons to Game of Thrones. Will it be as dark and cruel as GoT or the Hobbit Trilogy?

I would love to see an LOTR story that takes place some 10,000 years after the events of the book. It could take place in a shining metropolis full of fantastical horseless-carriages powered by ancient secretions from the deep places of the earth, and artifacts that pluck strings of light itself in order to instantly

Orcs. The “honorable warriors” variant. Although come to think of it, the “honorable warrior orcs” archetype may be derived from the Klingons in the first place.

Livestrong stopped funding actual research early on, and kept more dollars than were ever spent on outreach and awareness.

are you going to say it wasn’t? no. because you weren’t there either.

“Tarnished” means to take the shine off something. Armstrong’s reputation is corroded to the point it is just a rust stain on the ground. Yet he is still wealthy from the proceeds of his cheating.

Because he was an unrepentant asshole?  Yeah. I can see that.

i think that more people are actually pissed off at him because he sued and smeared a whole bunch of people that came forward honestly. He is a horrible person and winning at cycling because of doping is only a small part of that. Dude still thinks he is a victim and says as much.

Because you clearly haven’t read on what Lance Armstrong did to the people who accused him of cheating. He basically tried to ruin their lives for telling the truth.

Armstrong bilked, grifted and lied his way to millions. Along the way he did nothing but abuse anyone he perceived to be less than himself. Fuck him. He should be in jail. Instead he lives in a mansion and enjoys the life of the 1%.

I bet this is true because its not like the guy has ever lied about anything big before.

I think the subset of people who are aware of Lance Armstrong’s doping scandal is far larger than just cycling fans.

Yeah, Tom Cruise is definitely key to this series’ success. Say what you will about the man personally, but he is reliably entertaining.
