im a viking fan that went to college in wisconsin and so i can say that guy’s comment perfectly encapsulates packer fans. they make the most obvious observations (and think they’re brilliant), completely lack self-awareness, and have zero appreciation of the fact that they have the most talented qb of all time on

/Nod furiously

The normalization of it is what’s really frightening. How often do we hear the phrase “[Player] was shaken up on the play” from Collinsworth or Gruden or fucking Joe Buck? No guys, he wasn’t “shaken up,” he’s having trouble walking straight and they’re holding fingers in front of his face to see if he can count them.

I have a 2 year old but I’m not worried about it because by the time he gets to that age football will either be gone or so fundamentally different that there will be less risk.

The argument that people knew what they were getting into is silly. I played high school football, and while clearly not talented, even I was told to suck it up and play. I remember getting my “bell rung” and people laughing about it as I looked up to the sky wondering where I was. I don’t remember (ha!) the word

If you know anything about Mike and Mike, it’s that they never pass up an opportunity to plug a product.

Monologue show: Mike & Mic

I remember Greenie way back when he was doing Sports Updates (complete with stock market reports and the Daily Double from Arlington) for the “Monsters of the MidDay” show on WSCR in Chicago. He was an smarmy little weasel way back then.

I listen to Dan Patrick and I do notice the same stuff... at least on TV he does that weird “Live Look-in” stuff so you aren’t stuck with as much commercial time as the radio show. Isn’t most talk radio (or non-subscription radio, in general) almost a 50-50 split of content and advertising? All this talk reminds me...

I’ll never forget turning the dial on my car radio one morning and stumbling into an argument where Golic was trying to convince Greenberg that a Mammoth wasn’t a dinosaur.  This is a good day for Mike Golic.

I’m more nostalgic about this than I thought I would be. They just sort of seemed like they would go on until one of them died or decided to retire.

Mike drop.

They should hire Mike’s brother Bob. Given that he’s done pretending to be “Mike” at California University.

I listen to Mike & Mike every morning on my morning commute. It’s the easiest thing to ignore on the radio.

Fucking idiots. I mean, I know it doesn’t taste much different, but you’re supposed to take the paper off before you eat the sandwich. Jesus.

Mike & Mike: [drops Mike]

One’s fat! One’s gay!

Beside the point, really, but I can’t be the only person annoyed by the fact that they all have *different* swastikas, can I?

The NHL would be trying to add them to the roster just to drum up interest.....as part of an all-star game whose purpose is to itself to drum up interest. Even if everything the guy said is true, I think it would be a good thing.

You know what, I hope TPSH’s “conspiracy” theory is right because it would mean that the NHL actually did something right — it would be an unqualified and indisputably Good Decision for the NHL to improve the visibility of black players in the game in an effort to sell the game to more people.
