See, this is exactly why the Patriots win as much as they do - they play the percentages, and other teams do not. Belichick nearly always does what statistically gives his team the best chance to win, which in that situation would have meant run, run, run.

What’s really incredible to me about games against the Patriots is how the viewing public (fans, media, etc.) all know that teams should do certain things to beat them, but then the teams they play against do the exact opposite.

Morten Anderson is 88.7% from 30-39 yards. This isn’t college football - NFL kickers make field goals from 30-35 yards (essentially the new extra point) well over 90% of the time.

It’s always amazing to me how often pro sports coaches do things that make no logical sense. It must have something to do with the pressure in the heat of the moment. It just blows me away how frequently they either show up with gameplans that every single fan watching said would be a bad idea the entire week leading

Like Tebowmania back in 2011, what often gets lost in miracle comebacks is that they require equal parts of one team taking full advantage of every opportunity they are given and doing every single thing right, and another team doing literally every single thing wrong.

Spuds McKenzie’s ghost will avenge them.

Third overall if you count the Panthers kicking the ball out of bounds to give them the ball on the 40 yard line when the Pats needed just a FG to win

What blows my mind is how many times teams have shit the bed in totally boneheaded ways against the Patriots in closing minutes of the Super Bowl.
