This is part of the reason why they don't want to; can't be bested/surpassed by a lady. Just sad.

basically every [straight/white] male in every position i’ve encountered at my time at columbia has come off that way, from undergrad students through deans. it’s a festering wound of a douchebag factory and i’m so happy i’ll be done this summer.
you made a burner just to question her tenure track—is that you, Beert?
His entire defense seems to be “Bitches be crazy”. I mean why wouldn’t a woman dependent on him for a data set try to destroy him for no reason?
Bingo, part of the whole story was how Nancy was the pretty privileged one and Tonya was the plain poor kid from the wrong side of the tracks who didn’t fit in and didn’t look like a skater.. Having Tonya played by a hot tall very conventionally pretty woman is a good indication that they’ve entirely missed the point.
Come on. They prosecute at about the same rate as civilians. Most women in the military are too afraid to report what has happened to them. The entire culture is set up against being “weak”, for women specifically.
Another example of how this same bullshit works world wide. Doctors are a highly valued and well paid field, except for in the few countries where it is considered a “female profession” and therefore has more women than men in the field, only in those countries are doctors not among one of the highest paid…
I feel this almost every day I go to work. I’m surrounded by old guys in ties or hipster dude bros. I’m a fat white middle age woman. I’m usually one of the few women at the table when I attend national conferences. I long so for any females in my field that when I meet one I'm afraid I smother them with my…
“Also, as a rule nothing good has ever come of gold lamé” sigh that is so, so true.
I’m sorry you feel we’re not being sufficiently charitable about men’s desires to pretend they’re fucking underage girls, Mr Male Feminist.
Eh, while I think that men’s issues get diminished at times, I think men also overestimate the value of their risk-taking at times. Men tend to be brash and sometimes pigheaded, and I kinda wish at times male leaders would value the thoughtfulness that women can bring to an organization.
But of course when I show up to an actual workplace in a sexy schoolgirl outfit sensually eating a banana, it’s consider “unprofessional” and “inappropriate” and “stop dry humping the water cooler.”
And there’s the other end of this situation. In the early days of movies, the screenwriters were almost all women. Then, when movies started to become big business, men started to want those screenwriting jobs. The pay shot up accordingly, and the women found themselves squeezed out by men.
You’ve got the gaming fanboys defending this in the Kotaku article that excoriates it.
I wrote a paper about this very phenomenon in a composition class in 1992.
Ok I have a legitimately hilarious (and illustrative) anecdote here. A high flying (white, male, raised in a privileged home) neurosurgeon I briefly dated (was banging) told me that being a veterinarian doesn’t pay well anymore, and it was women’s fault because they’re willing to work for lower pay. In other words,…
This is why the argument agaist the existence of pay inequality that suggests that people would be more inclined to hire women if they’re paid less, because it would save them money is so frustratingly wrong. People don’t just arbitrarily pay women less for fun, they do it because, consiciously or not, they think that…
I don’t know if you smoke already/are around stoners much... But there is something exceptional about adranaline that sort of crushes a weed high. Everyone I know who has been high when something bad/dangerous happens is the MOST sober, while the sober people are actively freaking out (yay, adrenaline!) and the drunk…
