@muppethead: you just described 3/4 of the corporate twits in the music business.

@MN952: well, to each his own. i can't legally push the limits of my (relatively) cheap old VFR, but she'll snap your head back harder than almost any $50k American steel.

@MustangMike: i'm not sure that i see the resemblence between an attractive chevy and an angular mess of an Acura:

@Relyt: You're right, for people who don't have the option or desire to connect wires, wireless streaming is the next indispensible thing. But still many of us fall back on wired connections as much as possible. foolproof wireless is the holy grail, but WiFi reality sets in. it's hell when it's well, but it's sick

Honda, what have you done with the good Civics?

@sirmeili: you're absolutely correct, getting away from commercials will cost more, it has to be that way. i agree that Hulu sucks for many reasons. It seems to be aimed at impressionable youth who don't own a television. to me the small cost to avoid ads is worth it; my time is expensive. Tivo recognized this

@Relyt: sounds like this does everything the old AppleTV did plus some, minus the internal drive storage.

@badasscat: Here's why Hulu isn't an answer for me, using words directly from their website:

@theotherwhiteboy: close but not exact. You have to buy the Roku HD-XR to get Wi-Fi N, which is also $99. your point is valid for those of us who prefer reliable, fast, secure wires.

I don't know that this will be a hit for everyone, but i don't think that the price or capability is too far out of line with what most people want.

@Arbron: you're honing in on initial hardware purchase price (again, not sure how you're comparing machines, because i7 is iMac territory; the Mac Pro is a workstation with Xeon processors — ANY workstation with equivalent CPU clock speed Xeons cost significantly more than similar-looking i7 machines).

@dtptampa: until you get the bill for support & repair. it would take a force majeur to get me to buy another Dell. your mileage may vary...

@Arbron: you might be surprised. We swiched to Macs for our small design firm and the total cost of ownership has so far been less than HP/Windows XP.

@Goondocks: agreed that there are alternatives to AutoCAD. But most shops don't let their CAD jockeys pick the latest & greatest software, they just have to suffer with what they get. So, please share your wisdom.

Why not? Fear is used to sell everything else.
