My pet peeve is men who dye their hair a solid box color. It always looks so unnatural, and even celebrities never seem to get the memo that the base color needs to be broken up with subtle highlights. Willem Dafoe is the only one who gets it right. And don’t get me started on beard dye!

No, it NEVER ENDS. And do you think you’ll get off easy with just having the magenta lay over the white so you don’t have to bleach it any more? Think again- white hairs don’t absorb color well, and it takes very differently from pigmented hair. Your magenta will probably be more of a pink.

That’s hair that’s in the process of becoming depigmented. It takes awhile for whatever causes the pigment in the first place to die off, but eventually it will just be white.

If you are very lucky, that will turn into a natural skunk stripe. My mother and all her female relatives had those, and I was hoping for one, too, but just got regular salt-and-pepper. It’s fine, I’d rather skip the genetics that also gave them terminal cancers at a young age.

I.E., Advanced Style style.

I grew my hair out six years ago, and started using a blue color after a brief flirtation with some purple streaks. I will continue to do it blue over the grey for as long as I’m able to get the dye, because I like branding myself a blue-haired old lady, even though I’m fairly certain the young-uns have no idea what

And my first though when Fonda walked onstage was “Rita Moreno?”

I suspect the silver pixie from the Oscars probably has some help. It also looks different from the color in the IG photo.

It’s almost impossible to get grey hair to look glossy. I have to use various spray-on oil products, and have yet to find one that works well. Depigmented hair just looks dry and matte, no matter what I use on it. As for my face, cream blush and highlighter and no more matte lipsticks are required.

Have you tried any of the more extreme color cremes, like Manic Panic, Punky Color, etc., or the intense, bright color-depositing shampoo-conditioners like Punky Color (again) or ColorWow Clenditioner in Lavender? I mean, those for punk rock/unicorn/mermaid hair, not for toning yellowish blonde hair. I used them on my

When I was driving down Melrose this morning, I passed a group of young men coming out of a Buffalo Exchange (2nd hand clothing) and was marveling at the hideous dye jobs on two of them, one of which was a bad bright orangey-rust color and the other might have been washed-out lime green or something. And I was

Oh, she TOTALLY blames Elle.

So No Makeup means a BB cream or tinted moisturizer, tinted lip balm, eyelash extensions, microblading and the usual toxin and fillers.

Here’s the problem- there’s an old joke: How many therapists does it take to change a lightbulb? Only one, but the lightbulb has to want to change.

Jane has been knocking it out of the park this week. First there was her reuse of the Oscars gown, with her statement that she won’t be buying any more clothing since she already owns more than she can possibly use up, and we shouldn’t be forming our personalities based on shopping anyways, and the there was her new,

Thanks for commenting. I was curious if/how early HRT would change skeletal formation and things like your hips situation, or whether the body would still continue on its original structural trajectory.

I am IN NO WAY suggesting that rape victims like this are in any way responsible for their rapes, but damn, I wish women weren’t so conditioned to be nice, to go along, to not make waves. If creeps couldn’t tell who was more likely to respond with teeth, fists, nails and elbows and a good loud howl, they might be less

Two close friends had laminectomies last year, and both were walking normally the same day. Now, I realize that there’s probably a wide variety of conditions that can be treated with that surgery, as well as ways of performing it, but neither one of them needed a walker AT ALL, and both of them are ordinarily big,

So, I was against French Timmy’s casting as Bob Dylan in the forthcoming Dylan biopic, because I thought he was way too delicate and pretty, but his wild, frizzy hair in this gives me hope he can pull it off.

Nope, he was the perfect dangerous Bad Boy type women find so alluring.
