It's gonna take a lot to get me to switch from SmartFTP. I know, it's not free, but it's been the most dependable and predictable for years.

I think installing a custom kernel should be it's own key point here as that can make or break any phone/ROM combination. They are much smaller and often are key to battery life, features, speed, etc.. sometimes more so than a custom ROM.
TeamViewer for Android is amazing. Best remote desktop interface for a mobile phone I've seen yet. I just wish there was a way for the Mac OS X version to run in the background as a service similar to the Windows tray application.
@o0RaidR0o: It seems great so far! I was in Baltimore the other day and had it on battery with 4G on all day... moderate-heavy use from 7:30 AM - 6PM. At 6PM my battery was at just under 60%. I even had WiFi on for a good chunk of the day.
@o0RaidR0o: Yeah maybe I'll try that. A big plus for me is simply how a ROM behaves right after install. I know that everyone's mileage varies. I also look at how much info is provided right on the first couple forum posts. That said, I am currently on Warm TwoPointTwo, and so far, it's fantastic. It's incredibly…
@o0RaidR0o: Well, I tried it. I love the fact that I can nandroid backup, try something out, and restore back to where left off in minutes. I don't particularly need/love Sense, but I do need stability and for all features to work.
@o0RaidR0o: Yeah. I'm on OMJ now. How is Vaelpaks compared to OMJ?
If you have an EVO, be warned that 4G and HDMI do not work with this ROM yet. And if you have an HTC phone, you won't see HTC Sense here.
I like Notepad++ for some things, but not as a general note taking program. I generally use Dreamweaver CS5 for web development... code view of course.
@ted.pro: Well, if you're talking about tethering your phone, I do not need PDAnet as tethering is built in to my EVO with Android 2.2.
Nice write-up. I'm completely happy with Sprint 4G and 3G. I have two mobile broadband accounts, one of which is 4G. I also have an HTC EVO 4G. I live in a non-4G area but work in a 4G area - Wilmington, DE. The speed is pretty darn good. Sprint's coverage is actually pretty damn good. I was in Orlando, FL last week…
Been sporting the Black Rapid strap for a couple years now on my Canon 50D. Would never ever go back to standard neck straps.
I don't think this is a fair roundup/poll. Different programs are better on different devices and platforms, and not all of them are available on each platform. This can mostly be summed up as "Which program is best or more popular for the most popular device?"
@TimeMuffin: I won't disagree with that... but here's the thing...
@TimeMuffin: Yep. CDs. Even SACDs. Something went wrong and technology worked backwards with lossy compression. People started giving up quality for convenience.
@lopey: I beg to differ. Apple wants iTunes to be your one-stop program for all of your music needs. No, they don't advertise it to be a full-blown music manager, but if you bought everything from iTunes, you wouldn't need one. If they didn't want it to be part music manager, the first thing it asks when you install…
I don't know. I don't use iTunes. I don't want to use iTunes.
I have the Bosch DLR165K (a slightly longer range version of the DLR130K mentioned here), and it is truly amazing.
@joeny1980: I used it too. It was pretty convenient while driving.
I have to say, Google Voice Search works pretty darn good.
