@dbhewitt63: I didn't have any Vista problems either. I think it was just so different from XP and everyone was putting on machines only capable of running XP smoothly, that they were disappointed with the results. No one stopped to read-up on how to use it, what is different, etc. It wasn't perfect, but I found it

@Mickets: Throw them in a dryer for 5-10 minutes. If you need a little dampness, you can add a damp washcloth. Make sure there's not much else in the dryer. The key is that it is hot and able to stretch out as it tumbles.

@Izkata: Well, a few years gives plenty of time to save up for a nice Crestron system. I'm not sure how much I believe it, but a lot of sources say that a home-automation system will pay for itself in time... I assume they mean the energy savings by being more timely and precise with things.

@jeanroux: I don't use either, but I imagine you could setup Dropbox on both. It's free and easy.

I use WiFi to tune speaker management and sound systems around a venue. I also use WiFi to program and test Crestron automation systems. Sure beats ancient DB9 serial connections! For those reasons, I keep a CradlePoint CTR350 in my laptop bag. It's also a 3G router.

@Izkata: I think a WiFi solution may be a bit overkill.I don't know about light switches that are WiFi, but there are wireless solutions (not WiFi standard) from Crestron, but you're talking a lot of money for a Crestron system there. Crestron systems are complete automatic solutions, so you could theoretically manage

@minifi: I hear you, man. I just fear that programs not coming from the App Store won't be "signed" or "approved" by Apple and thus it will be a pain to do things with them. I've always liked dealing directly with developers.. especially with small shareware/donationware type programs. An Apple App Store as the

@joep1984: Update the software or do a restore. Gotta have iTunes. I use Helium Music Manager and Winamp on PC to manage music on it.

@joep1984: It's only a matter of time. It's like not being able to update an iPod without iTunes.

@mithrilfox: No, I don't hate Apple or Macs by any means. I've used them for years.

Looks like a lot of eye candy updates to me.

I think Apple's gonna run out of cats soon. $29 for OS X updates is kind of steep. It'd be a bit more justifiable if they would just rename it to OS XI, OS XII, etc.

Trouble is... when the remote falls into your couch cushion, chances are buttons are being pressed and held, so the batteries are going to die pretty fast.

@spcagigas: Depends on your meat/fat ratio. Anything leaner than 85/15 has basically no taste.

@The5thElephant: Well, one thing is for sure, the iPhone w/ an app alone can't replace legit automation hardware such as control processors with serial, relays, IP control, digital I/O, lighting dimmers, etc.

@Mixotic: Ha! Quite frankly, I would be the happiest person alive if Crestron systems didn't need to be programmed... Fortunately, I do about 1% residential work.

@mensrea: Didn't say it shouldn't be done... but there's way too many.

Telenav is very good. I use it almost daily on my Touch Pro2. I really like that I can add favorites on MyTelenav and they show up in the phone automatically. The best part? It's included with Sprint Everything Data plans.
