@wunch: Yes, I am aware of extended search in Notepad++. Escape codes and Regex are nice and I use them often, but Dreamweaver takes the cake for simplicity. They need to add a Regex builder to Notepad++. I also don't like having to specify whether to search Up or Down. Just search!

You mean people aren't using the iPad for work?

Nice tip, but I recommend Notepad++.

@jabber: Well, I don't really pirate music, movies, or apps.... The Internet eventually got big enough as to where I didn't need Usenet. I primarily used it for the text aspects... then database-driven forums came along.

Wow, I haven't used Usenet since the mid-90's...

@Imfromthenet: I'll believe that, but only if someone could explain why... Do they assemble in the UK? Even ones assembled in the US have parts made elsewhere. Or are they using 2nd rate parts because of import issues? If they ship from the US like every other system, I don't see any reason they'd break more often.

@soul1355: Also, people tell me Jeeps have very poor reliability ratings.. That said, my 1996 Grand Cherokee has 341,000 miles on it.. Enough said.

@soul1355: Studies like that make me cringe. What it shows me is how many people buy each brand of laptop and the KIND of people that buy those brands. I know they are percentages, but seriously...

I almost ALWAYS recommend Dell laptops to others. Not only are they some of the best built laptops out there, but they offer CompleteCare at a very fair cost, especially if you take advantage of it.

I've never had a crash or problem in the Beta channel. I think by the time it's promoted from Dev, it's ready for 99% of all web browsing tasks.

@mados123: I did try it... I'm not sure how it compares since Microsoft doesn't provide a lot of info behind it. Apparently, it will tell you which module has a problem if it can tell.

@Odin: I agree!

I'd say, most RAM is inexpensive enough as to where you can replace all of your modules so they are all identical. Sell your old ones on eBay or keep them around.

@NeoXY: It's not that it's less accurate. Try watching someone with a touchpad on a MacBook Pro the next time you're in Starbucks or something... Most people drag a little, lift, drag, lift, drag back the otherway, click. You've either got to be super precise or turn your sensitivity way down. Power users probably

My response (to which someone thought to take personally was) over at Engadget was:

It looks pretty, but most of the information provided isn't that helpful for troubleshooting remotely. If Internet worked enough to do this, I would send them over to TeamViewer and have them run that for me to take control.

@Adam Pash: I work and spend most of my time in DE... They're fast because Comcast and Verizon are battling it out to get all of the rich people to sign up for the fastest broadband service available. Meanwhile, rural areas (southern NJ included) still have no means of wired broadband.

@mike_311: Maybe so your friends can see you're using an Aero-compatible graphics card? Got me.

While not free, I still love TechSmith SnagIt. Pretty powerful when you need it to be. I really like the combined mode in v10. It also preserves Aero... not that this is all that important.
