Here in NYC they are asking recently retired medical personnel to volunteer and at Columbia/NYP they are also asking qualified med students to be ready. Just this morning, we gave the hospital all the gloves we have in our research lab. Good luck to all the medical workers.
This latest travel ban of foreigners from the Schengen region really should not be that much of a surprise. Trump banned entry from China in early February with also only two days of lead time for people to figure out their travel. The only bit of circumstance that helped that particular situation was that US airlines…

The governor needs to test more people in NYC. As of yesterday they only tested like 300 people in a city of 8+ million. At least test all the people under quarantine for direct contact with confirmed patients. You can’t wait for people to show symptoms before testing, they’d have already started spreading.

Not sure if the authors took into consideration the amount of people traveling inside and outside of China during what was the peak travel time leading up to the Chinese New Year in estimating what it could’ve been.
