@fhrblig: Especially my own kids. I think the only time I'd be sober is when I had to drive them - and I'd get a police-style barrier behind the front seats. Yes, this is why I have no plans to end up with children.

On one hand, I drive Volvos. On the other hand, I drive them rather quickly.

A real Monte Carlo in good shape could be worth about this much if it was either a generation older or somewhat hopped-up. This one... well, let me put it this way, Pontiac (Daewoo) LeManses aren't overly common these days, either, but they aren't worth shit, even compared to an Opel Kadett E.

@superveloce: Well, if your GTV6 had about the same amount of power and weighed a fair bit less (both of which are presumably true), it'd definitely be faster than the 'Vette. Google tells me the 2.5-litre six (as opposed to the later 3.0) would get you to 60 in around 8 seconds - if so, and your car was a bit

@a1ek5ant3ri: Oh, okay, great! I'll just leave my fedora at home.

@WheatKing: This one has the automatic, so to hell with it.

That's - oh, look, an automatic. It's probably a Mitsubishi V6 under the hood, too.

@Mr.choppers - Delenda Carthago Est: Or, possibly, the length of my legs. I daily-drive a Volvo 240, and the seat would need to go back 2" (or 1" with a bit of a tilt) for me to be properly comfortable. (And that's with a 32-33" inseam - I've always wondered whether the car was actually designed by Italians.) Of

@pahammer: Good. If they deviate by more than 5 - 7 MPH over/under (10 MPH over in the far left), the law should pull 'em over and have a nice discussion.

I figured this had a good shot at COTD. Congratulations, Der Spiegel!

@blkwings: I haven't driven a fourth-generation Eclipse (I thought the third-generation was a reasonable economy car, but not overly sporting, with the four-banger), but the criticism I've heard about it have to do with the weight distribution and understeer. Power-wise, it's fine by any reasonable standard.

@BrianMadigan: Sounds good, at least in a car that doesn't rely on its power steering/brakes. I'd leave the engine running for the brake boost.

@ShibbyUTman: And I don't exactly see the six-speed automatic making it here, either; not that anyone should care, because subcompacts require manual gearboxes.

@andystep12: Well, nah - the Camry officially starts below twenty large, and the Lexus ES starts at thirty-five - fifty grand in the back seat sounds about right.

@jvanbrecht: This - actually, I think lane-based speed limits would be ideal. 45-65 in the right lane (covering merging/exiting traffic as well, and further penalising those who insist on passing on the right as a matter of course), 60-75 in the middle lane, and 70-80 (say) in the far left, except where the highway

@hike15: Aye, if I was after a Bentley, it'd be a proper Mulsanne...

@Ceric Neesh: Honestly, there's no way I'd pull over if I was in a remotely questionable neighbourhood, and I'd be taking a damn close look at the officer's badge through my window before he got my license and registration. If they want me, they'll send a real cruiser after me. Hell, I have a hard enough time seeing

Oh, I don't know - I think that if one sold off those horrible wheels, one would have $45k in car underneath.

@Bluesroo: With a clutch and three real pedals, I'd be all over it! Anything for realism.
