@MadHungarian: I dunno whether I'd prefer it as an Edsel or as a Mercury... it's almost perfect as-is.

@sam-f: Christ, if I had two grand to my name, that car would be mine by the end of the week. Can't need that much work, can it? I'd just fix any rust underneath and wax the current paint well, and repaint 'er and do the necessary body work in a couple years. I wouldn't drive her in the winter, regardless.

@87CapriceEstate: Well, my aunt took it, actually, but I was in the car at the time. We were laughing about it, and she was quicker with her camera.

Out of those I've witnessed personally, this slightly-rough-but-solid 1963 Comet is definitely in the running.

@Novaload: Oh, THAT's where the Scud-can comment in the other thread came from! I wondered what the hell happened.

@87CapriceEstate: You'd be roughly correct... I actually believe I took that photo in 2005, so perhaps their sticker had expired?

@MadMechanic: The transaxle's awful, the steering is featherlight with zero feedback, the brakes are mediocre, visibility is only passable, and the throttle is ridiculously touchy, but I love my grandfather's Sable wagon simply for its engine.

Given that the excellent Duratec 30 is the best thing about a Sable, I wholly, completely, without any reservations endorse this project.

I'd sure like to know what was up with this entire post.

@Novaload: I don't know what the fuck you replied to, honestly, but these are a pretty good final accessory...

@Frankenbike666: I keep jumper cables in my 244, half because it occasionally gets electrically flaky (had two shitty batteries die on me, and had a small bit of fusebox corrosion that I cleared up with sandpaper) and half so I can help out other people. The lighter-socket-powered compressor lives in the garage.

I'd take it over an ordinary Accent, that's for sure. It may be ridiculous, but at least it's quirky.

My 21-year-old Volvo, with LH-Jetronic, four-wheel discs that topped those of many cars sold today (albeit without ABS), crumple zones, four three-point belts, anti-whiplash headrests, an excellent heater (at 30+ MPH) and working heated seats, and simple emissions controls falls into your Golden Age for sure. She's

@MushyHeirloom: Oh, for God's sake. That one was my fault.

@Novaload: I'd say $20, or perhaps "whatever you can get in exchange for one cow".

@87CapriceEstate: 2x4 rear bumpers are legal, though. I saw the one above in Sidney, NY. (My aunt took the photo, as she had her camera at hand.)

@Enorym: Perhaps not what Dodge had in mind with Home Alone...

@87CapriceEstate: Pull the front suspension, sell it to someone planning a V8olvo swap!

You'll find no complaints here - the last DOTS vehicle with less than four wheels had a propeller!
