I’m still cracking up over how will we / won’t we slip into recession has become yet another opinion show football. I work in finance and people in my industry have seemingly been trying to talk themselves into a recession for at least the last year and a half. Still hasn’t happened, yet the talking heads remain

This is a really weird take on who benefits from the money that was spent. If I can give you hint, it’s not trickling down.

So according to this site tax cuts to the rich and corporations don’t fix anything, but money to the rich entertainers fixes the economy.

“Now That Women Saved the Economy”

Yes. Yes. Abortion rights are healthcare. And. I liked Barbie and Beyoncé as much as anyone.

is sending nudes to the husband really revenge porn? that seems like, pretty standard issue extramarital drama. when I think revenge porn, I think like, posting images to social media or pornhub or something

I think he was basically saying, yes, that they didn’t have enough time to sell voters on the idea. And at the same time, paradoxically, that he wishes they would have tried to put this on a May ballot, giving voters even less time to educate themselves on the issue.

“my mother, my best friend, my sister”

It was going on a lot pre-covid too. What really rankled me is people bringing screaming babies and small kids to R-rated movies. Or spend the whole time texting and talking on the phone and not setting the phone to vibrate.

Sitting in the dark, no distractions...sounds like the home experience. PLus I don’t have to worry about the light from people checking their phones, people walking in front of me to get popcorn or use the bathrooms, etc.

Yeah you’re not wrong there!

I’d widen the aperture slightly wider to include films that aren’t action movies per se, but still benefit from the sense of scale in a theater (with Oppenheimer being the obvious example du jour). Otherwise I agree though.

and also like, if you’re a teen do you wanna see a 60 year old tom cruise in the 7th iteration of a franchise they’ve been making since before you were born or an 80 year old harrison ford in the 5th iteration of a franchise they’ve been making since before your parents were born? also it costs $50.

That too: I have no desire to pay money to see a comedy in the theater when I can wait for it to come on a streaming service that I already pay for.  Doubly so because the odds of that comedy actually being funny are pretty low these days.

Nope, it’s simpler than that.

Pretty much. They had to do next to nothing design wise to make the Ford GT look contemporary in 2005. I would bet 90% of the public would not know the difference between the 60s car and the 2000s car.

This is the most correct answer. It also shows how ahead of its time the original GT40 was. I'm any context these designs look contemporary

It’s hard to explain to kids these days how much this redesign blew us all away.

I don’t hate a lot of the retro designs, but I also don’t love them either. But, the Ford GT looks amazing.

Maybe because their character was well written and didn’t look like “Hey lets put LGBTQ+/Color character for representation” out of nowhere.
