How is that feminism, though? Feminism is “Stop being complicit and supporting abusers” not “your choice!” That is 100% not what being pro-choice means.

Jesus.
Time to look into what the brother is doing in his free time.
Ah, I was about to ask if Ghomeshi were back in the dating world again.
I was so scared for her when that video came out. So relieved she is safe now. I hope she is caring for herself because good grief that is some wild trauma.
First off, it’s very common for abusers to hide that aspect of their personality for a long time, then to unleash it on their victims without warning. Secondly, women are often socialized to view warning signs(eg, possessiveness) as romantic behaviour. Thirdly, it doesn’t matter if there were warning signs!!!!! No one…
I, for one, am hoping they cancel their entire lineup. How many goddamn spinoffs of CSI, NCIS, Big Bang Theory and Mark Burnett horribilities are we expected to stomach. Get rid of all of it.
Act of solidarity? *snort* Like she has any other real option. She’s on a show about current events. Every new #metoo story the co-hosts are gonna be like, “So, Julie, you’ve been in the eye of this storm...” and that’s if they don’t go gloves-off with, “So when everything came to light about Les, you stayed...”
But Scottie Pippen didn’t give his wife high profile gigs. Moonves derailed the career of the wonderful Ileana Douglas for her turning him down. He also exercised a vendetta against Janet Jackson for not bowing and begging on her knees for forgiveness after the Super Bowl fiasco. Do you think Chen would have stayed…
Why would Moonves have any incentive to renegotiate their pre-nup? It’s not like Matt Lauer’s wife, who got Lauer to re-negotiate their pre-nup a few years back under threat of divorce. Chen owes her whole career at CBS to Moonves, as she’s not good enough to have as high a profile as she does.
So.. do we think CBS is going to cancel Big Brother (it hasn't been renewed yet) or do we think they'll just get a new host (not Jeff please not Jeff).
Yup. It’s her life, she can make that choice if it suits her. And I can chose to judge her for it.
Seeing as how the horse she rode in on was none other than Les Moonves himself, I heartily agree.
“I also have to admire, at least on some level, someone who stands by his or her spouse.”
yeah I don’t care if it’s an open marriage. if my husband sexually assaulted people, i’m out.
Uh, “staying out of each other’s sexual business” definitely ends where serial sexual assault and harassment begins.
I would argue feminism is about dismantling oppressive structures and not giving men a pass just because we love them, because I’m sure as hell not devoting my life and work to a politic that says “hey, be shitty, but do it cause you want to” and calling it feminism.
Looking in from the outside I can judge her as making a terrible choice but I can also look at some of the horrible decisions I’ve made, because I thought I loved someone and hope I wasn’t judged too harshly.
She totally is.
Couldn’t agree more. This is feminism: giving women the latitude to fuck up their own lives, in their own ways.
