I don't see that. If anything, Jasper is the epitome of a properly functioning gem doing exactly what it's supposed to. She falls right in line with the orders and mindset of Yellow Diamond and the Gem society the other characters despise so much.

I love the way they developed Pearl's character in this episode. She's gotten a lot of flack because all of her character development seems to come down to loving Rose and being upset because she loves Rose so much, but the way they've tweaked her reactions, her temperament and her relationships over time has shown…
