First warning to Serena for coaching. Her own coach admitted to Pam Shriver after the match that he had indeed tried to coach her. The gesture was meant for her to approach the net more often. He thought she hadn’t noticed it, but still, it’s the attempt that matters. Players have been using this excuse (“I didn’t…
Maybe just maybe if you're going to argue don't resort to personal attacks. Serena deserved the 2nd and 3rd code violations, but the 1st one is debateable.
Osaka was so far and away better today it wasn’t even funny. Her ability to step up and hit great shots serving up 5-4, after Williams stalled for forever complaining to the referees and the crowd showed their ass, was unbelievable.

Serena's coach did admit he was coaching after the match, now whether Serena saw it or not, or if it happens all the time and the umpire was being pretty is another matter, but her coach did admit he was coaching Serena from the stands.
It really felt like Osaka threw the game to Serena right after she was awarded one on penalty. She couldn’t be too blatant because Tennis Rules but it sure seemed that she was trying to even it out after the BS ruling.
This article is terrible.
Apparently the coach admitted signaling in a Eurosport interview?
I mean, whatever the coach was doing was most certainly not a “thumbs up”, and I think everybody can agree on that.
Why don’tdon’t coaches just watch the match from the back? They can’tcan't coach anyway and this seems like it would prevent the player from ever being assessed with this kind of penalty...
Serena is a bad sport. It is what it is. You need to be almost pathologically competitive to succeed at the highest levels of sport, so it’s not that surprising. However, considering her position in her sport (and her age), it might behoove her to act like Federer, not Johnny Mac.
This was so hard to watch. I hope Naomi Osaka knows she would have won this match on her own if all of this shit hadn’t happened.
Naomi outplayed Serena. This has ruined the win for her. The crowd sucked.
If you’re going by the dictionary definition of “partisan”, you’re right. But as it’s generally accepted in political discussions (of which this is one), partisan or non-partisan refers to having a political slant towards one of the parties (the “part” in partisan). Are you really that unaware of how words are used in…
Go to hell, you fucking mutant. Jesus Christ, this is what the world has come to, we have this entire city of illiterate, human colostomy bags coming out of the woodwork like winning one Superbowl validates the fucking terrible life that preceded it and will follow.
Non-partisan doesn’t mean you don’t take positions, only that you are not looking at every story through a D/R party filter lens.
TIL drinking an entire bottle of cognac and yelling “Fuck this” repeatedly is apparently not as cathartic as my mother made it seem.
but imagine being so despised by your players that they believe there were conspiratorial motivations behind your mistake
One thing to note is that Tablet has seemingly had it out for Salazar for a while; its previous reporting, while antagonistic, resulted in some pretty good evidence that Salazar fudged aspects of her background.
