I don't think they did - the three bodies on the wall are Catholic priest, abortion provider, and a gay man. In the book one of them has a J but Offred muses that the symbol for Jewish is different so she doesn't know what the J means.

I went back and watched it again and it's a Catholic priest, an abortion doctor, and a gay man. None of them are identified as Jewish in the voiceover. So I'm not sure that they are official anti-semitic.
I buy the stores not having words - the Handmaids are only allowed to go to one butcher and one grocery (All Flesh and Milk & Honey in the books) so it's not like they've had to convert all forms of commerce to wordless. I don't think the Wives shop at all.
IIRC it was some kind of mutated strain of syphilis.
Don't be a dick.
Don't hurt yourself moving those goalposts.
They weren't on a major label. Indie labels don't have shit for
money.
Goddamnit, I know this isn't the point, but drunk driving in New York? In Manhattan? With 24 hour public transportation and wall to wall cabs? What the everloving fuck was that guy doing with a car in the first place?
Women in fact attempt more often - between two and four times. Men die by suicide between three and four times as often. It's an enormous asymmetry.
I suppose it could be a bit of a ramp up - maybe they just start with "security measures" and a few years later go full-kidnap. But maybe they did have their kid…
I hope they do. I think there are ways they could address racism within the society without keeping the separatism, and it's kind of obnoxious that they've (so far) gone with seemingly 100% colorblind.
Yes, in stripes. So they're basically wearing circus tents.
Have they had their baby when she loses her job? I don't remember seeing a kid anywhere but I could have easily just missed it.
She cares about them the way a controlling/abusive parent cares about their kids, I think. Most of these folks love their children in their twisted way, but they demand absolute obedience as part of that love.
I feel you. I'm also intensely underemployed right now so I have nothing but time to wonder about this.
No, he said if he kept the white *separatism* than it's impossible to tell the difference between a racist show and a show about racists.
That's essentially all fiat money is. It has no inherent value. (Neither does gold, but don't tell Glenn Beck that)
They must have some kind of Martha center where they all learn to cook & bake without recipes.
I think you're making a false dichotomy here. There are more options than hewing to the white supremacy of the books exactly or completely ignoring race and casting it like dystopia Grey's Anatomy. Folding in a white supremacist (but not white separatist) aspect doesn't have to mean completely altering the scope, it…
Mid-90s, actually, for the Gilead portions, about 10 years after most of the flashback portions. It's generally understood that the Historical Notes (2195) is happening 200 years later.
