I live in Northern California “wine country” and I’ve always found it suspicious when you’re driving down some pock-marked road that looks like they paved it in 1946 and then forgot it ever existed again and suddenly within a 1/4 mile of a winery the road is glass smooth and brand new. Pass the winery and it’s back to

I remember seeing something about how they were testing out a new surface in Arizona that was old ground up tires. Because of the extreme heat in Arizona, it was a much better material and lasted like 10 years longer than asphalt. Guess who stepped in and put a stop to it? The asphalt industry/lobbyists.

It’s just missing a giant decal across the windshield that says, “EXTREME” in lightning bolt font.

You’re absolutely right with this analogy.  For the vast majority of car buyers (not jalops) asking them to test drive a car before buying would be like asking us to test out a toaster before buying it.  Does it toast bread?  Is it within the price I’m willing to pay?  Then let me take it home.

The local news has a bit called, “People Behaving Badly.” One year they went to Sonoma Raceway during the NASCAR race and recorded as CHP checked the legitimacy of the handicap placards people were using to park in the closer lot.  They busted DOZENS of people that were using somebody else’s placard that wasn’t there

I’ve heard it’s supposed to have “learning” software that adapts to how you drive. I’ve had it for a year and a half and it still shifts up too quickly making it fall on its face when getting up to speed from a stop. So I have to press harder on the throttle forcing it to downshift and finishing getting up to the

How do you have radar cruise control? I have a ‘17 SR-5 that doesn’t have that. I’m also not thrilled with the transmission.

By not voting is how you choose that option.

People that want within 10% of original MSRP on a 20 year old car. “I paid $20,000 for it in 1995. $19,000 firm.”

When I got my Tacoma I chose the Quicksand (tan.) I’ve gotten more compliments on the color of that truck than any vehicle I’ve ever owned. It’s just tan, but people have forgotten what color looks like on a vehicle apparently.

I’ve tried to sway my wife too, but she knows too much about cars and is a brand whore. She wants the features and the snob appeal too.  Something about growing up poor and running away from that.

I’ve talked to a lot of salesman over the years and only twice have I run into one that A.) worked there longer than two weeks and B.) actually knew anything about the product I was looking at.

Didn’t you know there are only four automotive colors?  Black, white, silver and darker silver.

For three grand I’d just throw away the interior, install a single Recaro bucket, open up the exhaust and bomb around town like I’m in a street legal stock car. Black steel wheels and climb in and out of the driver’s side window. How fun would that be?

Plus it doesn’t cause calculable damage to a tire you can be held liable for. It just inconveniences someone.

Plus I was under the impression that diesel pump nozzles don’t fit in gasoline filler necks to stop just such a thing from accidentally happening.

This is 100% accurate. Most of the time small time Vehicle Code violations are just used as probable cause to make a stop and see if there’s something bigger. They aren’t stopping you because of your tint, they just need a legal reason to initiate the stop. Some cops won’t write the fix-it ticket so they can use the

I can’t imagine what a miserable existence it must be to be so insecure about your masculinity (or just yourself as a person) that you freak out that a woman dare speak when not spoken to or have an opinion in “your” field of interest.

I typically agree with you, but I’d probably talk to the owner of this one at a party.

Thanks for the tip.
