How does this compare with the jig method, [lifehacker.com] , and as someone else mentioned, using boiling water instead of fire, can that be done with the jig?

The guys offer at LH dig Slice [lifehacker.com]+drop-alerts-and-more-to-android , and your concerns came up during their first ever Q&A video. Check out 16:19 therein.

I found myself trying to clean my screen last night when seeing the same thing. Felt pretty stupid once I realized it was artwork.

I am about to switch to name.com, but LH had a list of some the other day [lifehacker.com]+loving-butt-and-get-a-better-web-host-at-a-discount

I would like to give a shout out to a site made by a LH reader, which used the github hosting, [lifehacker.com] .

This site came up randomly in comments from an earlier LH post, unrelated. It made sense to me since I had never heard of it either.

I have been thinking a lot about how my current system at home really isn't working. I need to build a new NASty solution, or at least add drives to my current hub... but, the end of your piece reminds me of what all the IT guys seem to say, which is that they hate iron and always vote for centralized solutions.

I came across this a bit late, but Crashplan does back up to a network drive. This is what I use at work since its easier (and better IMO) than simply mirroring my computer onto a limited space on the network which is how the IT folks have it by default. I know this can work, and these directions look familiar, [suppor

I completely agree. I sometimes chat with friends during the day, but mostly it is work related. LH did a story on this a while ago about each form of communication fitting the task. IM still has a role to fill at the workplace.

I have never been to law school, so I can't speak to how class driven it is. I do know it is very performance driven and you are gauged against your peers which then determines job prospects. If you happen to be the top of your class, then yes, you can do all these other things too. If you are that person, then you

I have known people that did this in grad school, and it generally meant grad school suffered. In my experience, in post-grad education, if you have free time then you aren't working hard enough. I have friends who made cash on the side while getting a Ph.D. and that meant it took them longer to finish or they didn't

As an added, amazing bonus, PenFed doesn't have foreign transaction fees (at least on the super basic card I have of theirs). When traveling abroad, I carry two pieces of plastic: PenFed credit card and Charles Schwab debit card. Both don't have fees, including foreign transaction fees.

Thanks Whitson, just learned a new word: antediluvian. Nice.

Good eyes. I am surprised someone isn't getting sued. But if it isn't patented, there isn't a lot of protection.

I haven't actually tried, but good to know your experience. I assumed since you would be mounting the drives, it wouldn't matter what filesystem they were (HFS+ or ext4 or whatever) but whether you used the correct AFP (and definitely not SMB). Netatalk 2.2x comes recommended from folks around here for sharing to a

So the issue isn't "Can I use the NAS for time machine?" its whether you can move your time machine backup to a different file system? Can't you copy the time machine backup to another drive with a different file system (using CCC or something), and then just re-format your USB drive to something like ZFS, copy the

Q: Easiest way to re-do my Google Music library?

Great story, but its hilarious that this is the cover of my favorite album.

Keep in mind that depending on how far north of the equator you live, the Sun's path is going to be shifting a lot or a little throughout the year. NOAA has a pretty handy Sun calculator to show the Sun's path at your location any time during the year. Super helpful when planning a spring garden (broccoli, etc.)

Thanks. Also, aside from going the SSD or Data Doubler Route, are there any specific 7200 rpm or hybrid drives that you or someone else has had a good experience with in a MacBook Pro?
