Having owned a 2019 Veloster R-Spec I can say unequivocally that it is tossable and fun. A Veloster N should be a riot.  I have no experience with the DCT, though, so a test drive seems in order.  Assuming you can find one.

Cars now are pretty extraordinary in terms of crash protection for occupants. They can always be better but at what cost in terms of weight and vehicle price? Also, race cars have completely different priorities and space for safety.

Went to the PRI show last weekend. They had a few NextGen cars on display with vendors. One had the whole chassis - minus bodywork. Interesting crush structures front and rear.
