WTF is up with the “you people will one day be placed back in bondage, god bless” from the Honorable Rev. Kermitz Fitzhume? Is he saying “god bless” as in, “Gee, I sure hope my prayers are answered and slavery comes back” or as in “I hope God is good to you when you end up back in slavery” or “I think slavery will

You’re right that the Golden Rule doesn’t really have all the answers to the complex sorts of questions that have arisen, and when people act like it is that simple, they are either being naive or disingenuous.

Aha! I have found the person with the screen name like mine, although I suppose technically you found me!  I have been seeing glimpses of a name like mine for a little while now, so I wonder if it was you or if there are others like us?

It is so awesome that there is a whole cohort of actors who are continuing to work into their 80s and 90s.  I was impressed when I saw Joan Collins on American Horror Story, but I was REALLY impressed when I discovered she must have been about 84 or 85 when she shot for that show.

That’s what I was thinking about also. After all, Captain Kirk hooked up with a new female on every planet he visited, and it had absolutely nothing to do with whether she was remotely close to being a human or not.

The difference is that Scientology was created with its direct purpose in mind. Many of the world’s main religions grew to have their sacred texts over hundreds or even thousands of years. Stories told in one civilization for entertainment purposes could end up being repeated and passed down to other cultures so many

When I read what Shatner wrote, I don’t get the impression of a perv who MUST have deep dark secrets just waiting to be exposed (although statistically speaking, he certainly could). To me, it reads like a man who has always liked women and has always liked to flirt, and he fell asleep around 1970 and just now woke up

It’s crazy though because they build those elaborate Scientology centers and I recall them saying (either on Remini’s show or another documentary) that a lot of the centers are actually empty most of the time.

It seems like there are a lot of efforts being made to encourage people to speak out against these kind of abuses now. This is one of the benefits of being able to use star power like Leah Remini and mainstream media outlets like her show, in addition to all of the other documentaries, websites, books, and so forth.

“Remember the Caravans? Well, they didn’t get through [...]”

I was saddened to hear the news today as a Pats fan. It’s definitely a shame because it’s clear he has gifts, and New England was a great place for him to get the opportunity to shine.

So it seems like getting a “wall” of some sort is essentially only going to be a symbolic victory for our ass-in-chief at this point?

When the article first mentioned children over six, for a split second I honestly thought something like that was coming.

All religions end up trying to get money or free labor from their adherents, but Scientology is so interesting because someone DID sit down with the explicit purpose of making up some wacky shit and making money from it.

Everything about this idea is sickening, but I keep coming back to the fact that they casually say that federal money will be made available for this purpose; by some estimates, it is projected to be as high as THIRTY PERCENT of the federal education budget. Considering the myriad ways our education already fails

The full article makes it explicit that one of the cops had a prior history with Jackson, so there isn’t any real mystery as to why he was pulled over on such a flimsy pretext. Jackson’s criminal record is exceedingly extensive, and he seems to have a propensity for leading cops on high speed chases and resisting

Does this mean if future archaeologists are picking through the ruins of our society they will conclude that we all must have been Scientologists, given the extraordinary efforts we took to preserve our key texts?

It would also make sense for companies to have their own childcare or daycare (I’m not sure if the two terms are interchangeable?) facilities or to contract with one specific company. Then they could negotiate a better deal, in addition to the fact that there would be a lower cost per child if one provider could care

I don’t know why this is the first time I have heard of her—is it weird that someone half my age just became my hero?
