And smile...
For the millionth time, let’s focus on the men, not the women.
She’s not allowed to make political statements. William is president of Bafta. Why should she sit out? Can we stop vilifying women who aren’t doing Times Up well enough?
My guess is that she was hamstrung by protocol, but the dark color and black ribbon show that her philosophy is with the movement.
Samson - Kills a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of an ass
Why the hell is this even a question that needs to be answered?
My favorite joke that was made was that the only two white guys in the movie are Martin Freeman, who played Bilbo Baggins, and Andy Serkis who played Gollum, making them the Tolkien white guys.
Who is actually taking offense at “no can do” and “long time no see,” though? It’s a fine bit of trivia that these phrases have “problematic” origins, but I’m not going to stop saying these things just because some white dude needed blog fodder.
I was literally thinking just yesterday about how great it would be to be Jen Aniston. Do yoga, drink smart water, drink maragaritas, hang out with your girlfriends, film one shitty movie a year, slather yourself in aveeno, go to mexico.
While this is true in terms of the public dissection of her; Jennifer Aniston leads a pretty charmed life. Not saying that this won’t hurt, but she has managed to create a fairly cushy existence* which can be hard to glimpse through the ‘poor Jennifer’ narrative.
Well it wasn’t all that long ago that a woman wasn’t allowed to sexually desire any man unless she was married to him, so I always figured these rapey scenes were to allow the heroine to experience sex but still maintain some degree of respectability and sympathy. It’s still all sorts of wrong but that’s the reasoning…
Thank you for saying this. As someone who is working very hard towards publishing a “dark romance” genre novel I’m sort of tired of being made to feel that my fantasies are wrong.
“How does one provide a space to explore sometimes darker fantasies without propagating unhealthy ideas about relationships?”
I have been reading pretty smutty historical romances since I was a pre-teen and have had a few chicken or egg moments trying to figure out if I sought them out because the non-con scenes turned me on. Or if I find that sort of thing arousing because I read so many of them at a young age.
How many kids do he/she have? Must be at least 4, right? You are clearly eliding over a pretty big part of this story (and also, how do you know how much this person gets and how much his/her partner earns? Is this a close friend you clearly hold in contempt? You’re a fucking peach.)
So did this get cross-posted to reddit or is it just one sad troll making a bunch of burners?
He made some nice cars, though.
Keep up the good work!
