"I'm done with rape-induced Stockholm syndrome as a vehicle for romance."
Ugh, me too.

Yeah. Comments like yours are totally evidence that feminism is no longer needed.
I'm confused. How is it possible to even measure the levels of outrage enough to compare them?
So, the fact that there are lots of guys who never rape anyone disproves rape culture? Got it.
So much for "a blatantly misogynist agenda."
Sweet burn, bro!
So it's the academics making those rapes happen… I knew it.
Just… no.
I think many people disagree with you, judging by the comments.
I don't believe that you know any actual women, let alone how they would react when attacked.
Not many men get there dicks cut off. One in four women report experiencing sexual assault. The social contexts of those two crimes in the US aren't really comparable.
How so?
It gets a little tiresome. As they say, "If you want to make a female character appear sympathetic, have her raped or killed. If you want to make a male character appear sympathetic, have his wife/daughter/sister raped or killed." Using violence against women as character development (for women AND men) is so…
So we shouldn't talk about it? Case closed. Thanks, Tyler!
This is so incredibly naive. You think all (or even most) rapists are in jail? Try 3%, according to the DOJ.
Apparently the showrunners meant for this to be a consensual sex scene, which is most disturbing of all. I mean, how blind to the reality of sexual assault would they have to be to air this as "consensual?"
Using a rape scene as sexual titilation is better than using a rape pun to bring attention to a discussion of how sexual assault is treated in the media? I mean, it was a bad pun, but it's not as big an offense as the GOT scene.
Exactly. The most problematic thing here is that the showrunners put this on the air NOT REALIZING IT DEPICTED RAPE. Enter, rape culture.
The fact that the director thinks that this rape scene is actually consensual sex is incredibly fucked up. And it's incredibly fucked up how many people would probably agree with him. I mean, it's not like she screamed out for help, right? Shudder.
"a fantasy depicting the most base instincts of man" How is rape the most base instinct of a man?!
The criminal statute has expired, the civil has not. According to others. They could be wrong, but it makes sense. Also, the burden of proof is less in a civil trial. Which is very helpful with rape accusations, as acquantance rape is almost impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
