Queer is an umbrella term (with a political history), and can be used by anyone at all on the LGB+ spectrum, or by any trans or non-binary people. I consider myself both queer and bi. Bisexuality is usually defined these days at “attracted to own and other gender(s)” or “attracted to multiple genders”, while

You MUST know that’s different, right? A (white) woman calling herself “wife” first, in a world that tells little girls who they marry (and how big the wedding is) is much more important than their career is FUNDAMENTALLY DIFFERENT to a black man calling himself “dad” first, in a world that tells black men they’re

Our big brains and our bipedal stature is WHY we have such trouble giving birth. We’re trying to make our brains as big as possible, and therefore our babies’ heads as big as possible, while somehow still giving birth through our weird narrow standing-upright pelvis. It’s not “by design” but the trouble giving birth

Yeah except we can’t tell which ones are going to do it. Some men put themselves across as harmless, even adorkably fumbling, gentlemanly and above all totally normal dudes ... then murder you. Or “just” shout and loom and threaten and follow you home. Or just decide to “take” what they “deserve” and rape you. Sure,

The full meaning is known only later, but the morality of the moment matters too. Trump was already a lying, misogynistic bully, that wasn’t exactly a secret. “We probably would’ve forgotten if he hadn’t won (partly because the Jimmy Fallons of the world made him acceptable)“ isn’t much of an excuse.

Once I asked for my sliders without mayo. They came with mayo. I could see the mayo. I could touch the mayo. I asked to send it back. The person who came to the table looked at me, looked at the mayo, looked at me, and said “there’s no mayo on them”. I said there is, I can see it. They said, “there isn’t”. I pointed

You should totally write that book! It’s such a necessary conversation, anywhere, but especially in today’s America. It might be really cathartic too.

Yeah you need a reference to rent in Ireland, usually (true story: “Nah I don’t need to see your references, sure you’ve got an honest face”), and they’ll be a bit suspicious if you say you’ve been renting but you don’t have your most recent landlord as a reference, but off the top of my head, lies that would probably

Wow, well, that is one of the more ridiculous looking articles of clothing I’ve seen, but it has pockets, so I’ll forgive a lot! Also I love your username! Also fuck you, old mean boss.

I’m definitely “Look at the New Capitol Hill Sprinkler System

This one is tiny and petty, but maybe that’s even worse because no one stood even the slightest little bit to gain by this, it was just nastiness. In my first “job” out of college (I was a postgrad student, but working in an institute, not a university, so it worked a lot more like a job than education), one of my

I always want to see the full breakdown, but they never do that. Like there’s a meaningful difference between, say
white man=100, white woman=70, black man=80, black woman=40

THIS is the kind of story that makes me want to get one of those super cool spy pens that records conversations, or like, a button cam, or something, so that you could casually click that on after “You should get a raise. But Paul—” because NOTHING GOOD ever comes after “But Paul” and people say this shit bc they know

Progressive In Name Only: PINO, pronounced peen-oh.

They don’t like the boycott part, because it’s too much like people power. You’re only supposed to suffer consequences if another company undercuts you (probably by paying its suppliers or labour even less than you pay yours). An unregulated race to the bottom while the CEOs and shareholders make as much money as

Okay well that’s harrowing! Thanks!!

But then what were the other commenters talking about? They said the parents had had a plan for what to do and had obviously thought about it?? Even if their plan relies on it being a pretty chill baby, just what WAS the plan? Since another commenter said it wasn’t “put boob in baby mouth basically whenever it’s not

I am so here for this! I had a blue wedding dress and no veil bc I am as pale as a ghost and wearing a long white dress and any kind of veil makes me look a LOT like a ghost and I am SO HERE FOR THAT VIBE but not on my wedding day cause it seemed a bit, y’know ... inappropriate. #tilldeathdoyepart

I actually avoid using the hands and faces for this reason... I hate that the weird yellow is seen as “white” because it’s the default (for the record, I blame white people / white hegemony for this, not POC).

But like, isn’t that what they DID do, with yellow? No one is bright sunshine yellow coloured. But then they immediately hit the problem that almost everyone assumed the default colour “meant” white. So they added the skin tone ones. Which now, I think, means the bright-yellow ones should be neutral, but people still
