I usually decide on a pronunciation—almost always the wrong one—early in a book and stubbornly stick with it. Then, when I hear other people discussing the book or it finally becomes a movie, I realize, "Oh that's how that was pronounced. . . ."

I'm guilty of my fair share of bad author puns from working in a library, but the Compton one is magnificent.

Last year, I read an interview with Stephen Lang where he was ranting about people who don't really understand what method acting is and then go overboard with it. It was released last summer, and it made me wonder if he was talking specifically about Jared Leto.

I am literally doing the exact same thing you did. Just finished the show for the first time and immediately started season 1 again.

I was kind of having a bad day until I read this. It's been a couple of hours, but I'm still laughing my head off every time I think about it.

Watch it! I hear he's real fast.

Amen.

He had so many great roles, but I still associate him with I, Claudius the most. Indeed, when I saw the headline, I got really upset and immediately thought "Oh hell no! We lost Caligula!"

I can definitely see that!

I've read 2 books recommended by coworkers that I didn't enjoy as much as they did—Jennifer Barnes' s The Naturals and Paula Hawkins' s The Girl on the Train.

I love Remains of the Day and As I Lay Dying!

Haha That's a good about clemency.

Sure! I can send it to you this evening when I get home from work. :)

Definitely.

I remember reading the files online—finding those case files online was like finding a goldmine for me—but I didn't notice his handwriting. But I checked it at work today and that is super creepy!

Thanks! I agree 100% about the differences between Smith and Hickock. Smith is, of course, riveting in a particularly pathetic sort of way and his relationship with Capote is intriguing, but the more I studied the book and the case, the more I also was fascinated with Hickock.

Aww Thanks! I don't know that anybody read it besides my committee. :)

I honestly can't imagine anyone else in that role. Granted, I am already a pretty big Powers Boothe fan (as indicated by the avatar/username), but he's just so chilling in that movie. I couldn't sleep for several days after watching it the first time. I've ended up rewatching it about once a year for a couple of years

I'd love a miniseries that focused on the Clutters and Dick and Perry. I wrote my master's thesis on the book, and I really do love Capote, but I feel like his story of creating the book has overshadowed what is already a fascinating tale on its own.

Tatum does nothing for me. I actually don't find Hardy attractive clean-shaven — his mouth is too pouty for me — so for years I couldn't understand why all of my friends were raving about how hot we was.
