Frock Flicks—a blog devoted to discussing the historical accuracy of costumes in movies and television—brought in an expert on Scottish clothing to discuss the kilts and other matters in Outlander in season 1. She has some interesting thoughts on the subject:

Correction: Jaime Lannister is always hot.

I discovered that about a month ago, and it really freaked me out!

The "Herself" stuff legitimately creeps me out. It reminds me of a cult and makes me expect one of them to break out the Kool-Aid any minute.

Yeah I like Caitriona Balfe just fine, but I don't think I've ever wondered, "What's Claire doing right now?" when she's not in a scene. I've wondered that about other female characters, like Geillis, Jenny, and Mrs. Fitz, but never Claire.

Haha I know what you mean!

Thanks so much for contacting him and also sharing the news with us!

Definitely!

I wrote about the southern gothic elements in the book. Specifically I wrote about how Capote uses gothic anti-pastoralism and depictions of sexuality and race to say that we're all a bunch of southern gothic grotesques, even the wholesome Kansas farmers. :)

Agreed! Most people I know love that movie, but other than the opening invasion scene, I think it's pretty ho hum.

I was willing to give the timing slack when the show's original schedule was so unpredictable at the beginning of the season. But now that it's just down to one episode a week, I don't see what the hold up is.

I know! I've never seen such a delay for any of the other shows I follow on the AV Club. I hope the reviewer's okay.

I have a former classmate who tried to become a portrait artist and set up her own etsy page, charging $50 a piece.

I also thought they handled the Presidential assassination idea a lot better than I was anticipating.

Same here!

Zoo makes me very sad for James Wolk.

I started wondering the same thing, which made me wonder if I was being an asshole for demanding a review.

Agreed! I feel like it was part of Wipeout!'s charm—it didn't pretend to be anything but strange people attempting an obstacle course and making a spectacle of themselves in the process (and sometimes demonstrating impressive athletic ability, as well).

I'm not sure there was much to say about Wipeout!, which is probably why it wasn't covered on places like the AVClub.
