I was also expecting him to not come back to life this time, and that to be a "goodbye" scene. I think that would have been a bit too pat, though.
When I found out Looking was cancelled (when it was announced here, actually) I audibly whimpered. I sounded distressed enough that my best friend worried something really awful had happened.
I haven't seen a show turn around so much in a long time, and it makes me very happy.
