But you always hope for redemption. Maybe visiting him in the hospital is a step towards that.

Rocky Balboa chased chickens in an alleyway and he did fine.

Mechanical failures and severe weather could cause accidents without negligence.

Well, the analogy uses fishing to explain how short-term benefits aren’t as valuable as assistance that enables the recipient to become self-sufficient. Throwing in a desert, then fishing tools, then other professions like carpentry and mechanics into such a simple analogy stretches it into absurdity. You’d do better

Any analogy can be abstracted to an absurd level. You just re-proved that.

I’m afraid you’re going to be arguing transgender isn’t the same as transracial for the rest of your life because most people don’t see a distinction between changing one and not changing the other.

So if, instead of donations, streamers “sold” nick nack merchandise, would Paypal’s seller protection apply then?

The standard diagnosis for the lack of civility in our politics centers on partisanship.

From the language, it looked like these were reported cases; not convicted cases.

PoliceMisconduct.net reports that in 2010, 6613 officers were involved in misconduct reports. Even using 2008's overall law enforcement figure, that still comes to less than 1% (0.6%) of the whole. By comparison, a typical apple barrel contains 3 bushels, or about 120, apples. So if there were 1 bad apple in a barrel,

I don’t think your comment allows for just how many police officers there are in the US. In 2008, there were more than 1.1 million state and local law enforcement officers in the US. So even if 3 new stories about bad apple cops came out every day, that would still only represent one-tenth of one percent of all

I think in these cases people are just using racial slurs because they believe it’s the most hateful thing they can say, not so much because they believe in white supremacy. Honestly, if fans thought making fun of

Sure. That’s the point of charity. You decide where you think help is needed and you make a personal sacrifice to see that help is given. That way, the government can never stop its funding.

It’s very easy to be charitable with someone else’s money.

It’s a nice idea, but why stop there? Instead of using other people’s money(i.e. taxes) to form a special monetary account, why don’t you and the rest of your community do it yourselves? That way, the federal government can never de-fund it in the future.

But you equated the issue as an absolute choice between adoption with the homosexual couple and foster care as the only alternative. That’s disingenuous. And your example isn’t realistic because it assumes the child wouldn’t be a match to anyone else.

That’s not what they’re saying. You’ve misrepresented their position. That could be a clue as to why you’re having difficulty understanding people on the other side. If you make an honest attempt to see their perspective, you’ll have more success.

Sure. I mean, what’s more likely: that 100% of a State’s House of representatives are horrible people, or that you just can’t understand how anyone can rationally hold a different opinion from you?

Yes. You “tricked” me into admitting we live in a free society that can write any laws it wants, and that in your extremely ridiculous scenario blasphemy could be made a capital offense. Let me know if you care to lurch back into a realistic discussion.
