You've essentially said, "If you are willing to give up a few of your other hobbies to get really really good at this one thing it's very safe." and that's a perfectly acceptable answer but not everyone has that amount of time or the desire to put that much time into learning to ride.

There are people that take significant offense to the fact that I even own a gun at all. Mentioning it usually results in someone asking me my opinion of gun laws or asking me what I think about some mass shooter like I am somehow an expert on either laws or psychology. It's strange.
