Thank you, Noble Renard, for fighting the good fight.

School is (almost) out for the summer! I was a good kid and went in today to finish all of the grading with the exception of a few kids I’m going to strong arm into doing some extra credit (too close to let them fail, too far to round up). The only sucky thing about this week is having to pack up my room again. I’m…
...but they’re so tasty!
Wooo, that was a fun 15 minute rabbit hole to go down! The Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive list of sibling acts. Part of me wishes groups like The Jets and Hanson had drama behind the scenes.
My mom sent me Twin Bings for my birthday. She rules, just like Twin Bings.
I sure hope it’s normal because my husband and I are going on 19 years together, and there are days when he annoys the shit out of me.
I’m reading a sexy novel by Linda Lael Miller because it’s the end of the school year and I have no brain cells left. Summer break is a week and a half away!
Lollapalooza ‘96 was my first big concert without my parents. I am so thankful I got to see them live. Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. are the soundtrack for my high school years. It’s tough thinking that so many of them didn’t make it.
That explains so much...
Poor Bill Cosby. Poor, poor Bill Cosby.
Lollapalooza 1996 was my first big concert without my parents. Soundgarden put on a great show, and I’ll be forever grateful to that ex-boyfriend for creating such a wonderful day.
Have been talking to my cousins who I’ve blocked on Facebook?
I teach in rural coastal Oregon, so this mindset is a constant battle for me. I am so thankful that so many of my 8th graders are hip and with it. Be thankful for our future kidlets, folks. They get it.
Newhart? Geez, I’m old.
Yikes, and holy cow to the 100+ Ph.D.s competing. I can’t imagine how frustrating that must be.
The part of Iowa I’m originally from is rife with farm run-off. The drinking water at my mom and dad’s house is disgusting. Have fun with your study; hopefully your research yields some good results.
Ah, but she’s already aware of your 2nd/3rd date conundrum! She can call you on it if you say something outlandish. As someone married to a slightly socially unaware chatterbox, I can say that I think you’ll be fine.
Well, shit. Maybe it’s a one of those Midwest things. Colleges, not universities, are consistently hiring for tenure track positions. Are you on one of the coasts? What’s your PhD in?
I have several math department friends who are in the same position - road warriors at three local community colleges. Keep your chin up, keep researching, keep writing, keep on keeping on.
I binged it the weekend it came out. It’s one of those stories that I have mixed feeling about due to the voyeuristic nature of it, but I feel like it was a rich story to listen to.
