Off topic to absolutely everything in this Dirt Bag, and because I’m slow on the uptake...Now that there’s a little Fusion link in our menu of choices, does this mean we’ll get some Dodai links on the Jezebel page?

That is still a frequent retort in my house any time there’s a persistent beeping like the oven timer going off.
In my girl’s case, the mom and aunt both work during the day, so who is going to be caring for the infant? The 14-year-old. What should she be doing during that time? Going to school. Thankfully we have a decent alternative school within our high school. I just hope she’s on their radar.
I will admit that I still have one pint glass from Gunnerz in Iowa City, which holds a weird amount of sentimental value due to the amount of time I spent there/it closed down years ago. But, after working in food service for 17 years, I find glassware/utensil/plate theft to be one of those quirks that I used to shrug…
There are several high schools in Portland that have day cares, which I think is pretty smart. It shows the community that young parents will be supported and that education is a priority. Holy cow, though, to the math class bombshell.
Did they go live with their aunt in Florida? A friend of mine lived near an old-timey home for unwed pregnant moms in Portland. I only had one classmate get pregnant during high school. The sacrifices she had to make were definitely a wake up call for the rest of us.
I know what you mean. I know I wasn’t solid in my knowledge of the birds and the bees at 13. Think about having to learn about infant care instead of prepositional phrases!
Right?! I don’t think I even really understood the birds and bees at that age. I am so thankful that I grew up without all of the advancements (social media, internet, hyper-sexualized nonsense, etc.). Sometimes it’s nice to be old.
According to my principal the father is a freshman at another high school in our area, and her boyfriend. And yes, social services are involved twice over, as the father is already in foster care due to his own crappy home life. My principal said that the school/social worker has made sure she’s getting neonatal care.…
This sounds amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Exactly. She should be getting excited about being a freshman, not about changing diapers.
Thank goodness for people like your wife’s aunt. That must be a simultaneously challenging and rewarding career.
I will fully admit that I was a very naive youngster, and I am very thankful that my parents raised my sister and I in a very stable home. I have a hard time wrapping my head around some of the crap these kids deal with on a daily basis: the chaos, the disfunction, etc. How does a teenager get past thinking that their…
One of my 8th graders has had incredible spotty attendance this year, and my principal finally shared why. She’s pregnant. I can’t even... She’s fourteen.
Still a good deal!
Is the abortion-plex having a BOGO sale? It might be wise to stock up.
I thought it was a belt at first, too, which I thought looked nice. Nope. Crop top.
I vote for square apron pockets. And thanks for shopping tip!
I do, too, but I want it as a one-piece instead of crop top and skirt.
Somewhere on my shelves I have a book about traditional Japanese wood joinery, which looks very similar to your gif. No wonder their temples stay up in an earthquake.
