If you’re gonna say something offensive to make a joke, then by god at least let it be interesting or original. Dave Chappelle recycling tired conservative-white-guy trans jokes from a decade ago isn’t exactly in keeping with his reputation for speaking truth to power.

Comedians circle their respective wagons real quickly whenever any one of them is under fire. Many, many comedians have rallied to Chappelle’s defense who I suspect wouldn’t if anyone other than a standup had said the same sorts of thing; Jon Stewart and Patton Oswalt to name a few. Lots of “well, I don’t agree with

The securing phones thing was annoying as hell. I didn’t know what time it was, couldn’t check my tickets to make sure I was in the right seats, all that stuff you normally do while waiting for a show to start/arguing with someone who claims they have the seat you’re currently in.. Ugh.

It was kind of a weird show,

The “true comedians” thing rears its head a lot. I dunno what it is about standups as a whole, but they really do tend to make a lot of apologetics for each other. At best most of them just keep their heads down and don’t say anything about another comedian.

He did a similar thing in St Paul. I think she was 15-16 at that one, but I suspect “finding a kid in the first few rows” is part of the new material.

There’s a lot that’s felt a bit “off” about this tour so far.

I saw Mulaney in Saitn Paul and his set was very funny, and surprisingly personal and raw, which was not what you usually expect from him. Maybe not “Nanette” raw and personal, but he certainly didn’t cover for the fact that he’d been in rehab and was a

Well, she is essentially blind now as a result, if the white cane in the trailer is any indication.

It’s interesting to think that this is an Axe-Murderer spinoff, though.

But without Col. Sanders and his wee beady eyes.

I’ve never really thught of him as “dumb” exactly, despite a few portrayals thereof, but...*daft*, certainly. Like he’s all a bit bewildered by what normal people do, and as much as he tries to be relatable he just comes off as odd and kind of offputting.

Like his knowledge of pop culture comes from the 1987 World

Why is he dressed as Klaus Nomi?

Did he really vanish, though? I mean, he started doing “comeback” shows literally six weeks after everything came to light. And he had numerous sold-out comedy tours since then. Yes, he lost a some lucrative development deals and probably lost some big dollars therein. But that’s not the same as “vanishing.”

It’s less

I too would like Erasure The Movie. Not that it’s needed, really, since those two are pretty accessible. But any chance for more footage of Vince and Andy dressed as ABBA is okay in my book.

Well this is good news.

Or, as a lot of people seem to be doing, doubling down. “You just don’t get why it was funny/clever” or “you’re too sensitive” or “comedy/music/fashion/art is SUPPOSED to offend!”

And while there is sometimes a small grain of truth in those defenses, they’re not usually deployed with any nuance, just as a

“...peewee fare...”

Well played, Dowd. Well. Played.

As counter-examples of “we’ll stay independent forever” music industry sites, we have Soundcloud and mp3.com, both of whom went from “trendsetting industry-changing repositories of indie content” to “utter shitshows with dubious monetization plans and tons of burned goodwill” in near record time.

That’s pretty much exactly what that means - BC doesn’t have anything in the way of localization tools at the moment, so no translations-per-market (or pricing-per-market, or product-per-market). While that may not seem like a huge deal, the lack of such things really keeps the site from functioning well and selling

I wouldn’t be surprised.

I also note that Epic is trying to build their own metaverse kind of thing; getting a community of musicians automatically tied into that for streaming and performance gives them a leg up over facebook’s baffling licensing and rights and all that.

I’m...withholding judgement.

Oh gosh yes. Heck, when the original episodes were being rerun on Cooking Channel a decade or so back, I tivo’ed them all and had watch parties with my friends.

The film saturation hasn’t survived well so all the food has a slightly “off” tint about it, but the recipes and techniques still hold up, and she still has a
