I’m not a celebrity by any means, but I met my literal (literal) best friend when I was 3, we met in pre-school. I’ve graduated from a PhD program now. Not making any excuse for Franco being fucking gross, but I appreciated Seth comments, because it just made me think of what I would do if my BFF, a huge influence in

Memorizing lines in the persona of a fictional character about fictional people is a situation where there are zero practical or emotional stakes. That’s not really analogous to speaking honestly about someone who was a friend and professional collaborator for almost 20 years. If he says this is hard for him I see

I liked his comments, actually. It read as if he is trying to be more self critical while understanding that his OWN feelings aren’t the point. His feelings aren’t relevant to the established issue of his friend being a creepy predator because the feelings of those women on whom the friend was a creepy predator are

Yeah for things like this I personally don’t think the public is entitled to a detailed account of the ending of a close friendship. The “we aren’t really friends anymore” subtext was fairly clear. I feel like for some reason people want him to say yup we were friends but now I think he’s gross and I hate him. But all

It’s not (typically) about moral cowardice, it’s about cognitive biases. Not just loyalty to their friend, but the implications of what it means about themselves to accept the accusations as true, and what it means about themselves and their friend if they are an abuser.

I’ve made the same comment a few times, but asking famous people about their friends who are abusers is putting them in a terrible position. I agree with what Rogen said, his opinion is the least valuable here.

I mean, Seth met this dude when they were teenagers so it likely is hard to process but also hard to articulate that this person you knew or thought you knew for years did bad things to people and now you need to answer on the record about the state of your decades long friendship. TBH his answer was more definitive

Note about Zeroville: It was released in 2019, but filmed in 2014 with almost no publicity campaign on release. It’s likely they haven’t worked together since 2017.

This statement gives me hope, so yes, it counts for something as it demonstrates understanding that other people were hurt by his seemingly former friend. It would be hard to announce the end of any relationship in an interview, unless one wants to showboat their new enlightenment.

Not just one where the cost of healthcare would kill him. But his underpaid job left him disabled and exposed him to toxic substances, making him need even more healthcare without adequately compensating him for the injuries he suffered.

It absolutely fucking shameful how we fail to care for our own people.

Yep. This isn’t a heartwarming tale, this is a damning indictment of our healthcare system and the effects of weak labor protections.

All of this because he lives in a country where the cost of healthcare would kill him otherwise. This is all great and warm and fuzzy, but let’s not forget that this would not be necessary in a country with a working healthcare system for its citizens.

The wording of this blows me away too — “didn’t have any further contact until she was 18" — as if that timeline can be measured in a matter of years, as opposed to several months at the longest.

Hey hey hey, K-9 treats women with respect.

But who to believe?!

Well fuck him then.

this is what I’ve said from day one in this shitshow—are there THAT MANY 17-18 year old girls (i.e. girls maybe still in high school) for whom things are so bad that they have to resort to sex work? JFC if I was a girl that young who needed $300 so desperately that they’d sleep with Matt Gaetz and his scumbag friends,

So they were upset that she put so many people in “danger” by not disclosing her age, then “didn’t have any further contact until she was 18"

As someone who grew up on the prequels, I’ll defend them here and say I do prefer them to the sequels by a slight margin.
