I’m a “big tent” guy and I think you can have a single-lead Trek, you just have to have a damn good lead character for it to work. When you don’t, you can either fix that main character or pivot to a bit to focus more on the ensemble. Discovery has done neither of those things despite having some pretty cool (IMO)

Yep. I don’t know if he’s trying to be coy or what but this is not the time to be overly precious about this stuff.

FFS.

SAAS is Microsoft’s sole goal, it’s no different for the xbox devision.

I think they’ll almost certainly continuing making Xbox-branded hardware for exactly that reason. The question is what it will actually be. It could be an actual console like they make today, and if I were a betting man that’s what I’d put my money on.

That would be great. My oft-stated worry is that Microsoft will pivot to a set of offerings that do not involve an actual console on which you can install games locally (I would be shocked if the Series X doesn’t end up being their last console that can use physical media, which is bad enough). That is, your two

Try reading my reply in context. OP stated that Discovery being lead-driven and having short seasons meant that it’s impossible to have B-plots. Neither of those is the case; the latter is why I brought up SNW, and the former is also not the case.

The thing about having a strongly lead-driven version of Trek (or any show, really) is that you’d damn well better make that lead character worth it. While I know many people disagree, Discovery has, in my opinion, utterly failed to do that, and part of it is that they categorically refuse to allow Burnham to have

Right now it’s Scribe Valdez from Fallout 76.

and the ten episode seasons really leave no room for B plots and character episodes like the older series would do all the time.

That’s my feeling about a potential PS5 Pro. The PS4 Pro felt like it made some measure of sense since they seemed to be pushing the limits of the original PS4's hardware. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’m not getting that feeling at all from the PS5 or the Series X.

Agreed. Supergirl wasn’t good, but it’s more watchable than Superman IV. I don’t know if it’s actually the case, but Supergirl felt like it was earnestly approached by everyone involved. Christopher Reeve seems to have been the only one in that category for Superman IV since the threat posed by nuclear weapons was a

I just wonder how it is they can claim they’re making ‘Spider-Man’ movies when Spider-Man isn’t fucking in any of them.

The danger isn’t them voting for Trump. The danger is them not voting at all.

6-7 percent rate on a $50,000 car is brutal

Does anybody have the rights to Gwenpool? I know she’s a polarizing character but I’m a fan.

No. I’m saying It’s About Madamn Time.™

That sounds about right, unfortunately. They might just be going with the YouTube strategy of making the ads so obtrusive and awful that it drives people to pay not to have to deal with them.

It could be that, but I’m leaning more toward the Morbius kind of insane, which inspires several different and harsher adverbs.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if AI/ML could be used. There should be a set number of breaks and they should occur at specific-ish intervals. Combine that with the fade-out/fade-in (or momentary black screen) and even if they didn’t double-check it it’d be better than what they’re doing now.
