SAG-AFTRA and WGA could’ve immediately agreed to whatever hilariously punitive deals AMPTP initially offered and this still would’ve happened, just like kiosks replacing humans at fast food joints.

Doubtful, unfortunately. There was a kerfuffle early on with XM Radio (and probably Sirius as well) about it - they loudly touted commercial-free music channels but they were filled with promos. They insisted those were different because they weren’t paid ads; I don’t know if it ever got to the point of a suit, but…
I’m fortunate to have had access to an outstanding private tracker that’s just for TV stuff for more than a decade, so I don’t have to worry about missing out. I subscribe to all the main streaming services, but I like to have offline copies in case they disappear and there’s stuff that isn’t available to me legally…
Yarr.
The headline makes it sound like there was a direct appeal to Biden himself, but the text of the article says everything was handled through Katherine Tai, who, it should be noted is not the Assistant Trade Representative but rather the United States Trade Representative.
If someone were to ask me to be a recurring character on a Star Trek show, or any other show for that matter, as Quark, I would say yes.
Ah, cool, thank you for that clarification! NYU felt like it made the most sense but I haven’t watched the show outside of an episode happening to be on TV when I was visiting someone since the show was on the air.
I don’t recall whether they ever said where Ross is a professor, but I looked up NYU salaries and was surprised at how low they were, relatively speaking. Top (“star”) professors, which Ross probably isn’t, earn $182,400 while associate professors earn $106,100. Assistant professors earn $99,700. I presume he’s…
I enjoyed Watchmen quite a bit but I figured it was at least in part because I came in cold since I didn’t read the comics.
I have tried using it, and I even go back occasionally to see if it’s any less awful. I haven’t deleted my account even though Lord Zuck allows that without also deleting your Instagram account.
I think my favorite part of that was learning that Jonah from Veep was the cameraman during auditions.
How does BG3 run on the Steam Deck? I have it for PS5 and I’ll be traveling this week; since it has cross-save, it might be worth picking it up for that price even though I’ll likely continue to mostly play it on PS.
Threads would be their second actually.
Agreed. And given how bot-infested the place is (it may be confirmation bias but it seems like there are more bots than ever) I wonder what portion of that number are actually monetizable humans.
And, just like in August following its initial massive number of downloads following its launch in July, users will largely abandon it because they’re looking for a Twitter replacement and not Instagram-but-text.
You’re right, I should’ve phrased it more clearly for people like you.
I am as well, I should’ve been clearer. I was drawing a distinction because Bluesky still isn’t fully public, though they seem to have loosened up the invites quite a bit recently.
I do think it’s smart to go the route they did with Bluesky rather than just trying to directly clone it like Truth Social did, I just wish that the feature rollout was faster and more robust; there’s still no video, DM, or even animated GIF support.
I seriously think he’s delaying it on purpose because he knows it would be the nail in the coffin for Twitter and he feels some kind of idiotic pity or loyalty to Twitter still
Threads is absolutely terrible, which is what we should expect from any app launched by Meta. They haven’t successfully launched one since Facebook, and Threads looks like it’s going to be another hilarious failure more and more every day.
