As Steadysoul points out, though, it wasn’t on GamePass or a similar service at launch, so there’s going to be a different skew in GP vs. non-GP since Starfield has been there for its entire (short) existence.

Games are especially fraught to adapt. The nice thing about Fallout, though, is that they’ve (they being Bethesda, Obsidian, Interplay, Black Isle, etc.) created a very richly drawn setting over a quarter century that each of the games takes place in a different part of.
One factor that may or may not be interesting is that people playing on Steam paid for it, and thus would have more incentive to keep at it even if they weren’t necessarily enjoying it enough to justify that thanks to the sunk cost fallacy.
Terrible!
Really, that’s mostly what they’ve done with Fallout 76. We all know what a disaster it was at launch, but I don’t recall hearing about them poo-pooing negative reviews or any other public pushback on the (very justified IMO) negative public reaction. Instead, they quietly put in a lot of work to address many/most of…
Mortal Kombat II was the first one that sprang to mind. It was an absolute phenomenon and was an important milestone in the evolution of fighting games.
Very well said.
Agreed. I get that studios have become so risk-averse that they’re terrified of doing anything that doesn’t at the very least have strong, marketable ties to what came before, but it’s tiring and it makes me significantly less interested in/excited for new stuff that comes out.
Then again Doctor Who has always had plenty of silliness.
I always thought “blue” meant using profanity and talking about topics that were forbidden in the ‘60s and maybe into the ‘70s like sex and drug use rather than stuff that’s considered offensive in the way this is.
I am genuinely surprised at the relative lack of Jimmy Carr mentions in these comments.
I especially like “nouveau-gauche,” since I’m a mark for portmanteaus.
I know it’s likely too much to hope for, but if he can recapture that 9/10 magic while not falling into some of the traps he fell into first time round, it could be truly fantastic. I’m mostly thinking of:
I’ve fortunately never fallen asleep at the wheel, but when I was working as a reporter at my local NBC affiliate, we heard about a really nasty crash involving a car and tractor-trailer. Went to the scene, and the driver of the car was a guy I went to high school with. We weren’t pals or anything, just acquaintances…
The case began last August and basically claimed that anti-competitive practices by Sony allowed it to get away with charging a 30 percent commission on all sales in the PlayStation Store rather than charging a smaller amount and passing the savings onto consumers.
Totally agree. I don’t follow any streamers (I know several personally so I see it from that angle), but I do listen to several podcasts. The “How Did This Get Made” crew, for example, doesn’t foster a problematic parasocial relationship with their listeners. I appreciate that. It could have something to do with the…
Just to troll people, they should patch it out so she not only uses a Blue Yeti, she uses it as an end-address mic, and markets her podcast as being about “anything and everything.”
I guaran-damn-tee that they did pricing studies/analyses to settle on that price, but a reasoned response isn’t on-brand for someone in this space.
She apparently doesn’t realize the REASON she’s a millionaire is because of her community, the ones that are subscribing to her channel and watching her YT VODs that are giving her the ad money.
