Are there even universal rules on hormone therapy for trans athletes? I don’t think there are. As things currently stand, self-identification is all that’s required to transition. That’s problematic if you’re trying to ensure a class of athletes remains protected.

There are two athletic classes: protected and unprotected. The protected class was created because cis women stand almost no chance of winning in an unprotected class. Trans women can win in an unprotected class, and should not be placed in the protected class.
