Nope, people just understand it was the most important reason why. You’re called a racist cause you’re trying to convince people that slavery wasn’t the reason it was this other thing. Yeah we get that it wasn’t the only reason, but we don’t care because they aren’t important. It must be sad to only be able to choose

Truth be told, the war wasn’t fought over slavery, it was fought over the unlawful secession of states that were dissatisfied with the wholly legal election of 1860.

Oh, there were other causes, such as population demographics and economic concerns, all of them basically underpinned by slavery. The issue is that most who bring them up in discourse are Confederate apologists attempting to avoid admitting the inherent wrongness and injustice of that cause.

White and black America fought the Nazi’s in WW2. Literally 85% of America is anti Nazi- even the GOP senate is mostly against Trump on this. You dont get to shit on white people for not caring enough about Nazis in WW2.

MUH STAYT’S RAAAHTS

lol Yeah, I have health insurance and money so I already know that. You can’t fix being a stupid poor sister fucker though. Too bad for you.

LOLOMG

So, go fuck yourself, you stupid little kid.

TL;DR version

lol I love how that’s you hick’s go to now. I might be wrong, but you’re mad!

That’s what I don’t get about these “what about”s and “who’s next”s - who’s next is every racist motherfucker with a statue. Americans would rather embrace a lie that feels warm and fuzzy than deal with the actual truth. History in-fucking-deed

My favorite part of the Southern justification for secession is that, once the war (and the yeoman planters who owned no slaves but actually did most of the fighting) had well and truly turned against them, they began crafting the “Industrial North vs. Agricultural South” story that many people are still taught in

My god, this is utter nonsense. Please, do tell us again all about what Lincoln “would have done” and “what he really cared about”. LOL. Give me a break.

The thing is, if you do ignore them, they DO go away. They LOVE this kind of thing. Even now, they’re having trouble getting server space and web hosting. They NEED this publicity, and moreover, they NEED someone to say “well, both sides....” I have a friend who grew up in Idaho. Ya know, where there’s a bunch of Neo

I get it, but to borrow from one of the above paragraphs: liberals also fall into the trap of labeling people that are allies (even if not on every issue) as enemies.

“Mr. President, the WTC buildings have just been attacked.”

Hilarious. At any rate, my point isn’t about the quality of the humor, just that the attempt to use it even during tragedy says nothing about whether one is privileged or not. The author even acknowledges that she’s “sure Fey’s heart is in the right place.” So this just strikes me as yet another example of someone

Hey! Fun fact! More than one group of people can be tired at the same time!

On the other hand, the use of humor is common amongst humans as a coping mechanism.
