First heard it via Cale’s version on the Basquiat soundtrack. Will always be my definitive Hallelujah—nobody else sounds quite broken, not even LC.

That was never in question. Idiocracy features a very simplistic dystopia. Racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and bigotry don’t really exist in the movie. Meritocracy triumphs over tribalism.

Just a reminder that the White House has its own official Twitter account for communicating with the public and there is no need for the company to let Donald Trump continually violate their TOS due to “preserving the public interest”

at the bare minimum, a thirty-year moratorium of cover versions of it.

We have Jeff Buckley to blame for that I think he did the first cover that people noticed. But that cover did get me into him. I also found out that Leonard was one of my dad's favorite artist. He used to play his songs on guitar.

He could have at least changed it up and used the Jeff Buckley version so we can all hate that one now as well.

Trent Reznor has the best uses of Leonard by bookending Natural Born Killers with “Waiting for the Miracle” and “The Future”

Good to be back on the familiar ground of absolutely hating Harley’s design. It was very confusing for me seeing the new Suicide Squad movie teaser earlier and actually liking a Harley costume other than her original look. Also her face looks very uncanny valley to me. Great choice of music, though, B.O.B. will always

‘I’ll Be Gone In The Dark’ uses the Aimee Mann version of ‘Avalanche’ as its opening and fuck me I was so relieved to hear an opening Cohen theme that isn’t ‘Hallelujah’ I just about wept.

I know.  Can we use the Partisan more often?  It got a sweet cover in Wolfenstein Old Blood and that's about it.

That wasn’t the problem with the 2016 movie.  ;)

I saw him live on the tour after Old Ideas and he made the song good again. This trailer... Isn't doing that.

Amen.

He has so many other great songs!

Shortly before his death, Cohen said in an interview that it was time for everybody to lay off the song. The only good thing is he made some coin off of it when he really needed it.

Yea, but it’s no MiniPops! Look that up if you want to see an example of a jaw-dropping 80's UK TV series, having pre-teen kids, mostly girls under eleven, dressing up as the likes of Madonna and dancing very suggestively and lip-synching to tracks. Anybody who saw it will never forget it, and for all the wrong reasons

Some would say it’s the opposite of the point of the movie.

Now if you want to do a proper French movie poster, you should study the classics first.
