This show is further that “faithful adaptation” is something we should not encourage. Good Omens suffers for trying to hewing too closely to the book - it would have been much better if it had diverged from the source material and made something new and zippier.

Irma La Douce is problematic to the point of being unwatchable these days. It’s a very pale shadow of The Apartment.

It gets worse - they pad it out with a musical number (the Kevin Hart bunny thing does a full version of “Panda” by Desiigner). It’s probably only about 75 minutes of movie and it still feels too long.

It’s genuinely insane because, despite being built up as a core plotline, it had no impact on the overall story.

You can definitely only have these debates when there’s real depth in the characterization

Yeah, i think people saying that he’s abusing his power as a priest are wrong (why would she care?) It’s more that he’s encouraged her to be so vulnerable and then he turns it into a sex thing. Definitely the most divisive moment however you look at it.

All of that.

I found the "kneel" part very uncomfortable as Fleabag was so vulnerable in that moment. I prefer the fan theory that Priest's name is Neil ("Just...Neil")

Fleabag’s jumpsuit is one of the more memorable sartorial choices of 2019.

Disagree - I think it’s substantially better. The final scene is *chef’s kiss* perfection.

Hot take: Stewart is a better actor than Pattinson. R-Patz is pretty solid, but watch Stewart in things like Personal Shopper and you see that she can give remarkably textured performances.

The plot beats in the current season are fine. The plot beats in the fan versions are also, mostly, fine.

Denial.

What was the point of introducing a named character so late in the game, only to have him do nothing and then die? Especially when he’s got a boring-ass name like Harry Strickland.

Cassie (Kate Hudson), might be the only exception only because she’s mischaracterized as a villain. Her criticisms of Rachel’s dance moves are no more or less harsh than any other serious dance teacher. The misjudgment once again suggests that the show is so heavily and so blindly in Rachel’s favor that normal (if
