and weight, and charging at the track. I can’t even run E85 because there is none within an hour of my house or near the track and how long has that been out?  I’m not holding my breath for electric track cars anytime soon

is this anecdotal or are they actually faster at autocross? I thought the V8's were still king at handling in FS with proper tires/shocks/setup. That said the v8 bmw crowd walloped them this year

what are you comparing it to? it is out accelerated by most everything, it might feel quick but it’s 0-60 is not, clocking in at 6.6 seconds even my R53 JCW is quicker and it’s not a fast car.   As for handling, it’s not very good, so again what are you comparing it to?  it only pulls .78 on a skid pad

I learned to do this driving on the track and now I cant drive without my mirrors set like this.

Wishful thinking on that price here in NC, those are CRX SI numbers

you can make 700hp on stock frame n54 turbos now, this mod list did 711 whp on a dyno easily found on google.

because racecar?

this why all the autocrossers stuff as much on as they can? 275 width on miata’s running in prepared, mini’s and honda civics with 275s in SFM. When I went from 205 to 225 I saw a significant laptime improvement at VIR

if you are serious about tracking them, swaybar changes or a set of coilovers and some camber adjustments will fix any factory tuned understeer on any car, fwd or rwd or awd.

I can say when I added a wing & gurney flap onto my mini my top speed on both straights at VIR actually went up. Exit speed is more important than the drag penalty at the speeds I am seeing.

Now playing

I go to the dragon 4-6 times a year and that’s not counting the nearby areas like hot springs NC, and I try to do at least 20 trackdays a year. I have 2 minis, one is more for track use and the other sees the mountain/weekend runs along with the daily 110 mile round trip.   I am in a mini every sunday morning either

as long as they keep making the gas version, we have no charging here, 55 miles to work and my electric bill is expensive enough already.   My jcw is my go to mountains car, it’s 250 miles to the dragon

weight and complexity are a m3 issue, I’ve owned nothing but bmw for 20 years, lots of autocrossing and track days in them. I just bought a toyota 86, after warranty expires it will be my HPDE car. I cried a little but bmw has lost this buyer.

it’s not the first

resale is higher on m5, m3, 3series, 1series if they are manuals

well said, if the model starts with F I dont like how it drives

and now it sells at a premium, just get the car you want and a tune to deal with the way they setup the manual

they tried this before and brought them back, there is a big premium on the used market for manual cars too, the DSG’s are horribly unreliable

the rekluse in my dualsport makes traffic a non issue

pointless extra mass
